Charge 3 has lines on screen

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I noticed today that my Charge 3 display has a horizontal black line around the middle of the screen. Seems like something with the screen itself because it stays visible no matter what’s on display. Any suggestions? I bought mine in December 2019.

Mine is doing exactly the same, got it for xmas last year and within a week I've gone from 1 line across the screen to having loads more and not being able to read the steps along the top. I'm trying to get in touch with fitbit as apparently it's an issue but it's not that easy.

I am having the same issue. My Charge 3 is about 2 years old and the lines started a few days ago. I re started it a bit ago to see if it would help but it did not. The lines make it difficult to read what is on the screen.

My husband bought a Charge 3 for me in February and it started doing the same thing. We have tried restarting it, we have tried changing the clock face, nothing seems to work.

I bought a Charge 3 for him in June of this year and his started having the horizontal black lines and then completely went to a black screen. It won't even show the screen when we try to charge it.

Has anyone tried anything that works?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Shrryl @ZSEMomma @Minniesmyer3 @KatieOLeary.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your devices are showing lines on screen. Thanks for trying to resolve this, I appreciate the additional details and I am here to help. I recommend making sure you've tried the following:

  1. Restart the device: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Long restart:
  • Connect the device to the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration
  • The device turns off.
  • The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  • Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

I am having the same issue. It appears to be common fault in the charge 3. Long restart makes no difference

I am having the same issue as all the other users who have replied to this thread. I just finished charging and the lines won't go away with trying to change the face/clock display or performing the long restart per your recommendation. Is there something else that can be done to remove these lines?

Hi    having had this happen twice to me, you can contact customer support.   I had to send a photo of the pebble on a piece of paper with my name and email on it and some other detail and they sent me a new one.      It is deeply frustrating and it more lines appear.

If you don't need it to tell the time it continues to work well and sync with your phone but not useful for at a glance info.

This should be straight forward.  What is the warranty state?  If it is a known issue then Fitbit should give us an exchange or refund.

I restarted using the instructions in the link (the second set of instructions wasn’t working for me?), but the line is still showing.

Tried your suggestion, but it doesn't help. What else have you come up with???

Really upset with Fitbit service, I had purchased Fitbit charge 3 on January, 2019. I had the same issue as mentioned by the original poster, it replaced once in November 2019, but the second Fitbit charge 3 also had the same issue. I tolerated the white lines but now the screen is completely gone.

It’s been over a week and we still haven’t heard from FitBit support, despite assurances from the moderator to be on the lookout for an email. Has anyone else actually gotten this issue resolved?

Hopefully, you receive an email soon.

I gave up on Fitbit support and I am not buying any more product from them. My Charge 3 has gotten worse. Got tired of waiting for emails from them. Nothing that they mentioned by phone, this forum and email has worked. So I am ditching it and just ordered an Apple Watch 6.

My Charge 3 started the dark line issue 2 days ago, but I needed an update and a recharge! I was desperately hoping that would take care of the issue. It didn't. I did try the advice found in this thread of a long restart, but it didn't help. My Charge 3 is newer...May 2020 and this is the second time it will need to be replaced. I am getting discouraged. 8-(

Oh gosh! Sounds like it's time for a new device. **ahem**! Everyone is telling me to kick fitbit to the curb but I love the things. If only I could get one that would stay on my wrist and keep working! 😑 Maybe it's time to look at the Apple Watches? 🙄
