Charge 3 incorrect mileage while walking

My fiance and I both have the Fitbit Charge 3, and I've noticed his correctly tracks the route we usually walk, but mine doesn't track the whole thing.  It usually is around a mile short.  Why is this happening?  Very frustrating for him to brag about his extra mileage ;).

I went on a run this morning using my Fitbit and 2 other trackers. The other 2 gave the same distance (which I believe is correct) my fitbit showed over a mile shorter distance. I agree it's very annoying.
