Charge 3 looses GPS connection

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've been using Charge 3 for a few months, and this week it suddenly keeps losing the connection to the phone gps.

Bluetooth is on, the Fitbit app is connected to the Charge 3, I can sync the device, the phone is Samsung Galaxy s10, I have restarted both the phone and the Charge 3.

When starting an exercise, the Charge 3 cannot find the phone unless the phone is "awake". When locking the phone, the connection is lost in a few seconds. I've checked the power settings, and they are correct. I also started an exercise directly from Strava, and there it was no problem, the gps was tracking the entire trip even though the phone was locked.

What can I do to solve this? I would like to get the heart rate data included in my exercises again.

Hi @Solhell, welcome to our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Charge 3 loses GPS connection. I totally understand how you feel about this and I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.

Please try a long restart. To do so on your device, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

After this, check out this help page, which explains how the GPS feature works on your Fitbit device. This article also contains some troubleshooting steps for you to try.

Finally, monitor your Charge 3 and see if it doesn't lose GPS connection anymore.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

Somehow the settings had either changed, or the system handled the settings
differently.
I can't remember to have changed anything, but the GPS was set to share
data only when the Fitbit app was running. Previously that meant that the
app had to be running, but now it needed to be in the foreground and the
phone being "awake". When changing to always share it worked.
