Charge 3 not charging on initial start-up

hi all

so I bought the charge3 when I left the US permanently back in September 2018 as a gift for a friend.

as it happened he already had another tracker so I gave him an alternate gift, since then the tracker has been sitting in my closet forgotten in its original box unopened.

recently I happened to notice it and I opened it up to use it since my vivoactive is on its last leg and has been acting up a bit.

I plugged in the charger cable into my PC's USB socket and waited for something to show up on the screen but nothing, waited some more with the same result even after leaving it plugged in for 6 hours.

when I squeeze the finger sensor on the left side of the tracker I can get it to buzz for a couple of seconds but no screen.

so I have a feeling that the battery has basically given up in it's forced hibernation period of over two years.

please shed some light on this if someone has experienced the same.

thanks

@MPP1 Welcome to the Community.

Let me help you with your Charge 3 not charging. This could also be a display issue as you are actually getting a vibration when you press the button. I suggest you try cleaning the contacts using cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's USB port (try different ports) or use an UL-certified USB adapter. After this, restart your device and see how it behaves.

Let me know how it goes.

thx for the suggestions

I cleaned both charging points on the unit and the charger and then I plugged the unit in several charging points over several hours each, still the same issue, no display

I even tried to "hard reset" the unit by pressing the button for 15 seconds several times but no luck there either

I have a feeling that since the unit sat in my closet for 2 years, the battery has died due to non-usage, hopefully that's not the case
