Charge 3 not recording steps, floors, active minutes etc.

I noticed this morning that my Charge 3 was not picking up my heartrate. The lights on the back of the until also quit working.  Shortly thereafter, all metric....steps, floors, active minutes, etc.....all disappeared. The icons are all on the screen and I can swipe through them, but there is no data there. It still syncs with my phone and I get call and message notifications from the phone, but there is no data being recorded by the Fitbit so the sync doesn't give me any metrics.

Things I have tried: soft reset, hard reset, long reset, software update.  Yet there is still no data as I tap through the icons.  Is it now worthless as anything but a watch and notification device???  Unfortunately it is a few months out of warranty. I've gotten used to having to buy a new device every 2 years, but this one is not that old yet. It should last at least two years.

UPDATE: All of the above is still not working and just now the screen wake function quit working.  Seems to be dying bit by bit.
