I wanted to start a new thread since 1 of my replies was deleted as a duplicate post in the blank screen thread..
I tried charging my charge 3 when the screen went blank, and it took the battery from 89% to 2% and got very hot. (Same issue multiple people are having). Got it working than charged it with no problem.
Today after the unit went dead after being at 98%, and working, again I tried to charge it and it would not power on and was hot I disconnected it from the charger and am waiting on them for what to do next.
I wanted to post what was going on so if it happens to other's they can be aware this may be more then changing the clock issue, and so Fitbit can see if it happens to anyone else and prevent someone from getting burned or a fire starting."

My Charge 3 had a very similar problem today. When I woke up the screen was black and I couldn't wake it up. However, it still vibrated and synced to the phone. The lights on the back worked as well. I tried some of the troubleshooting tips like plugging it in to charge and hitting the reset button. That didn't work. I tried just leaving it to charge and it stopped working completely and was hot when I took it off the charger. I've never worn this device in water and I've taken great care to keep it safe - not bumping it against things, because it cost a lot of money. Overheating devices are a big problem since who knows what the fire risks are?
I did chat support and called fitbit but they said they would elevate it to some "higher department" and I would get an email. I still haven't recieved an email about this issue. Or even acknowledgement via email that another dept recieved notification on the issue and is worki g on it.That's not good customer service. These devices are expensive. If it's impossible to reset the device, then connect me to someone who will process an exchange. And since so many people are having this issue, then fitbit really needs to fix the underlying cause of this issue and standardize the process for getting an exchange.
My mom bought this for me from QVC. They immediately sent a shipping label so I can mail it back for an exchange. That's good customer service.

Give them time, they appear to reply at night or overnight. They emailed me it was elevated, then an email to confirm the country I live in. After that I received an email with the return postage and another one with information they need you to reply to.
Very easy and they appeared to be on it fast, after my post about the issue. I am just waiting on the return of my replacement now.

My charge 3 started doing the same thing today. I am in the process trying to charge it now and it stops at 14% and gets very hot. I only have had mine for 6 months and was very good to it.

Hi, I had the exact same problem this past Tuesday. My Charge 3 overheated while trying to charge it. Also it is not holding a charge for more than a few hours. I just bought this in Jan of this year. I did get an email overnight requesting more information.

Mine has not been holding a charge. Today I plugged it into my computer since it went from 79 to dead within an hour and it was warm when I unplugged it. Screen was dead. Charged it via USB port for about 40
minutes in the car and picked it up when I got home. It was so hot it blistered my skin!! FitBit gave me the run around a few times and now I finally was told I’ll get a replacement. Seems like this is becoming a common problem. This is my third FitBit in 4 years. Not very happy with the reliability of the product.

My Charger also became very hot and I was afraid it would catch fire!!! I chatted with a vert nice representative from FitBit and they immediately sent me a prepaid shipping label to send back my defective device. Once they receive it, they will send me a replacement. This must now be a known issue...

I am having same problem as others in this thread. Only have had the Charge 3 for 3 months very discouraged. Not receiving any response from FITBIT. Previously had a Charge 2 for a couple of years but given this problem may move to Apple Watch. If you had success please post.

Mine last night got hot well wearing had just charged it 2 hours before. When took off saw it was at 1%. Let cool down recharged. Only holding charge 3 hours max. So disappointed as this one replaced my April 2019 one. Got it this one Dec 2019.
