Posted a comment to "alejandrafitbit" (re: Charge 3 Screen is dim) on 12/07/19 and 12/31/19, and got no response. it seems that particular thread was marked "solved" thus i received no response. but i want to highlight to the community that the solution provided did NOT in fact solve the problem, and it doesn't appear the problem will be solved.
i couldn't see anything on my Charge 3 screen anymore and threw it in the trash last week.
i'm a long time Fitbit user but my last few Fitbit have been garbage - they didn't last more than a year (problems would surface within a year, deteriorating further as time went on). if the product is garbage, Fitbit should move to a subscription model where the watch should be free and you pay a monthly fee for the data. or you should be able to use a competitor watch with the Fitbit app.

The same thing happened to me! We have two charge 3's, my wife and I, from approximately the same time period, same software, etc. Mine is much dimmer than hers! I am having a harder time using it, and can't use various functions anymore if there is too much ambient light.
There are threads about the dimming issue that go back to at least April of last year, probably further . . . it is hard to have faith in Fitbit that they will find a fix for this, even though we want to. They want us to wait even longer as we continue to suffer the loss the tracking and other capabilities of the Charge 3 we have come to rely on.
Whether the dimming is caused by hardware or software isn't important. Both are necessary for the proper working of the tracker. Customers have a right to expect product will work according to design specifications
Reading through the many threads on this subject reveals that people are noticing differing degrees of dimness. Some cannot read their screen at all, some can read with hardship, some who have even described a mottled effect or loss of pixels. This would point more to a deteriorating hardware problem. I have heard some OLED screens have been known to have a problem with dimming and degrading with age. I actually experienced this with another OLED screen that dimmed to nothing after a while. Could Fitbit comment on whether this is the problem?
At this point it would be respectful to us to hear the truth - explain what it is as going on as best as possible, and come up with a remedial course of action for those of us that have this problem. Please don't tell us to continue to wait. We don't think FitBit engineers are so incompetent as to not know what is going on after a year.

Mine dimmed after last charge. I cannot read the screen at all.
