Charge 3 screen won’t light up and is too dim

Hello,

I love my charge 3 and have loved using Fitbit. I have had my Fitbit for 3 years and use it at work. Since I’d updated it, my screen was dim. I charged it and restarted it last night and now it will only vibrate and the screen is no longer visible. I can no longer use this at work. I’m clearly not the only one because I’ve seen the forums and restarting the Fitbit hasn’t worked for anyone who updated their Fitbit. Could I get a replacement or fix the bugs on the update soon so I may continue using my Fitbit please?

Hi @Schumann19, welcome to our Fitbit Community. I'm sorry to hear that the screen of your Charge 3 became dim and it's hard to view. I totally understand how you feel about this and I appreciate the time spent trying to get this issue resolved before contacting our forums.

I'd like you to try a long restart. To do so on your device, follow the steps below:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.
  8. Try changing the clock face to one developed by Fitbit, not a third party clock face and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted on the outcome.

I thought I was going crazy.  It's happening to be too.  Also won't sync anymore.   Not happy as it's not even 1year old.

JuanJoFitbit,

I did what you told me and the screen is still dim. It didn’t work. The Fitbit is fully charged and the clock got changed and it is still too dim. What do I do now?

The restart did not work for me as well.  I love my fitbit, but I need to be able to see my information when outside.  Currently, I can only read my watch inside in dim light.  I have to use my phone app to keep track of where I stand.

The restart does not work for me. My device doesn't shut down and I never get the 7 vibrations. I already am using a Fitbit clock face but changed to a different one to see if that resolved the dim screen.

Still dim and cannot see.

Hello Everyone
I am Dr. Shubha Chandorkar. I purchased my Fitbit charge 3 device on
17th November 2019.
Upto 30th October 2020 it was working fine. And suddenly (1) the
display went blank and black, (2) It started vibrating irregularly, (3) may
or may not sync with my mobile phone and transfer the data.
For the next 4 days, that was upto 04th November 2020, I tried
/followed all the suggestions given by the community/support group. But
nothing was working out for me to put my device back to functional state.
As my warranty period is about to end, as a last resort I sent the mail
on 4th November 2020for urgent help. Lately one fine day I received an
Email offering help.
The present condition of my Fitbit Charge 3 device is
1. Display is still black and blank
2. Not vibrating at all.
3. It is recording data and syncing well with my mobile.
Desperately I need your help. Please guide me precisely step by step so
i can follow your suggestions to put my Fitbit charge 3 in action again.
Thanking you in anticipation

Well I got an email today saying they noticed I synced the day before...AFTER restarting my phone!

Not happy at all.  Long restart doesn't work.  This is not even 1 year old.  Fix it or replacement required.

Mine would not restart using instructions. Two days later, my Fitbit suddenly got bright again and is working appropriately now!

I experienced the same issue and tried everything you said. Half of the screen lighten up, but the other half remains dark. Also if I tap the screen it lights up for 1 second (literally) and turns off again. In order to actually see the time I have to hold side button.

hi, i also have the same issue with the dark screen. i have tried to use this restart, which worked for me but then three days later the screen has now become black again and this restart hasn't worked for me this time. The FitBit is still connected to my phone and still recording the information the screen is just no longer working. My fitbit versa 3 is approx 2.5 years old.

Same thing happened to me, now it’s dead & won’t charge at all!!

I agree I’m on my third one. I feel like I could have bought an Apple Watch for what I’ve spent on Fitbit and replacement bands.
