Charge 3 suggestions

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since the Charge 3 release, many many people have posted complaining about the 5 watch faces offered, none of which has date and day of week. Many have said they have returned their Charge 3 because of this, others that they will return theirs if it isn't quickly remedied, while others who were going to buy a Charge 3 have decided to either wait and see if better watch faces are added or have decided to get another brand.

There have also been many posts about what things are important for a quick look without swiping. For some it is large time-date-day and 1 or 2 parameters (often steps and battery), for others it is a smaller time-date-day with more parameters (which ones varies with the person).   But overall everyone seems unhappy with the 5 selections available (which admittedly are horrid).

The O2 sensor is on the device, but as with the Ionic and Versa the data is only visible to Fitbit and not the consumer...this is wearing thin for many and some are changing to brands with O2 sat consumer-ready usability.

So a few suggestions for Fitbit, to win back customers:

1. Watchfaces

...add date + day of week

...do some large, medium and small size fonts for digital time in user-selected 12/24hr time, plus analogue face(s)

    ...battery level on all faces

...4 stats (in addition to battery level) selected by user from the list of heart rate, steps, stairs, distance, calories, active-minutes, O2(if you ever finish it),  similar to the selection of 7 exercises from a list, to be displayed on watch face.

...For example, my ideal watch face would have 24hr digital time, date, day of week, battery level, steps, stairs, heart rate, O2 sat.  Others would have different preferences.

2. O2 saturation

...Finish the O2 sat software and activate it; it's been promised for over a year and you are now falling behind other brands. Remember, Vaporware doesn't sell.

The Charge 3 hardware is good, but is currently crippled by some bad software decisions...those can be fixed but the longer it takes, the more sales will be lost. So as they say, time is money and in high tech the product success-fail window is short. I would guess you have this week, or at most 2 weeks from release date, to address the #1 reason for sales loss (no date/day) before many losses are permanent.

I might be one of the Charge 3 returns if only 2 stats I track are on the watch face.

Fortunately I have an Ionic (which *does* display 24hr time, date, day),  though it does irk me that in order get battery, hr, steps, stairs, I have to also have on the face other things I don't follow, so everything is smaller and cluttered. The lack of user-selected parameter display choices is just plain outdated thinking.

Those are my thoughts and suggestions, cast into the wind.

I need the O2 saturation levels far more than I needed a menstruation calendar. That's far more critical to health measurements for me, much more valuable during exercise.

Also, it would be nice to have a band without a clasp - there are many out there that use a magnetic or Velcro strap closure, which is helpful when a person has thin skin that gets easily irritated by clasps.

I agree with more faces with time, date and seconds.  And show battery life!

I agree 100%. I too am tempted to return the watch because of no date. The faces weren’t that great on the charge 2 but MUCH better than the charge 3. In my opinion the faces are very similar in having huge time and not much else. There should be much better and more customization. I had an iWatch for quite awhile but it doesn’t do sleep cycles and I didn’t like their alarms.

The iWatch has many ways of customizing the watch face including pictures. I don’t really exercise and buy the product for heart rate, silent alarms, sleep cycle and steps. I want to see the date and the time at the very least. Heart rate and number of steps would also be appreciated. I would like it more simple and don’t need the time to be that big; on the same line would be better instead of the time taking 60% or so of the limited space.

I spoke to a Fitbit rep and was told there are a lot of complaints about the lack of face choices with date and battery info. Was told it would come in an upgrade but not immediately. Was told they have had a LOT of complaints about this! I hope the do something sooner than later!

Thank you for your response!!

Wow...looking through the Charge 3 thread and since my October 2018 post, it seems *nothing* has been fixed on the software side, and now folks are having hardware issues.

So glad I returned my Charge 3 during the return period.

So glad I gave Charge 2 instead of Charge 3 as gifts to family back in 2018.

Am overall happy with my Ionic, but it has a 3rd party face.

Not so thrilled with the "Fitbit Premium" idea and no, I don't plan on buying it.

Disappointed Fitbit never implemented O2 sat information for the user...BUT my Garmin Fenix Pro shows O2 sat and I have an amazing 3rd party face for it and it tracked walking all day every day in Europe for a week *with maps* and battery lasts a long time, and it does sleep. I currently wear both Fitbit Ionic and Garmin Fenix Pro, since each has it's strengths, but who knows for how long, since Fitbit seems to be on the downhill slide.
