My watch bands broke so I left it on the shelf until I realized I could use most of it; I recharged it and synced it but the time does not correct; it stays at midnight - any ideas?

Let me help you with this. Besides the restart that @SunsetRunner kindly suggested you have to make sure that your tracker is properly syncing. Please follow these instructions to do so.
