Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Mrs.Johnson. I moved your post to a new thread in order to keep our community organized and I'm sorry to hear your Charge 3 tracked steps while you were sleeping.
In order to assist you could you please let me know if you were wearing your tracker when the stairs were tracked?
Fitbit devices detect floors with an altimeter, which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Your Charge 3 is designed to detect pressure changes based on elevation gain, but other types of pressure changes—such as a gust of wind, a weather change, or opening a door—can occasionally cause your device to register extra floors.
Keep on visiting the forums.
