Charge 3 update issues

This is the 4th time the single white line has appeared. However, now I am unable to reset the device to get back to the smilie face. The data is still be recorded and it will sun to my IPhone; however, the display is blank. The device still vibrates when receiving messages and alerts. Still the screen is blank. Performing the 8 sec hold still will not return the smilie face and now it is back to a blank screen. I don’t want to reset my data and loss almost 2 years of data. So, what is the next step?

PS is there a way to trade up to the new Charge 4?
