Charge 3 will not do a long restart

My Charge 3 is very dim (even in low ambient light). It is NOT in SLEEP mode. I followed the directions on this board for doing a long restart, and I was able to accomplish the long restart a week or so ago, although it did not help the dim readout on the device. Now when I try to do the long restart, I never get the short, then long, vibrations. Instead, after 5 seconds of holding the button in (while on the charger), I see a smiley face. After that, no matter what I do (pressing button or not, cursing or not) has any effect.

I understand there was a firmware update a few months ago, but I can't seem to find out HOW to check to see what the version number is, and if I have it on my device. Any help with ANY of this is appreciated.

I am probably going to buy a Charge 4 to replace this Charge 3 and was wondering if the charger and wrist bands are interchangeable? Thanx again. Yes I know a Charge 5 is coming soon, but not interested.

@MikeyChris I hope you're doing well.

Thank you for troubleshooting this issue. This is not expected from your device and since the issue persists I suggest you contact our Support team for further assistance. The best way to get help for this problem is to chat with us online or give us a call. Click here to get connected.

Regarding the firmware you can check this help article for help with updating it. If you want to see the version your tracker is running the tap the top left button on the Fitbit app, then the tracker's icon and there you will see the firmware version, battery status and the last time it synced.

The bands from your Charge 3 will work with the Charge 4 and you can check it's information page here.

Hope this helps.
