Charge 3 won't restart

Hello,

This is for my wife's charge 3.  Mine works fine. I have read relevant posts and tried several times to wake it up without success.  I have done it before too. Now, I actually get various results but am never able to connect her phone, a Samsung Galaxy  S10 sw up to date.

On an unrelated issue, my ATT had my wife reset the bluetooth so the Charge 3 is already "forgotten".

After power restart, I get the horizontal line but after redocking no display comes up. If I press the button while still docked sometimes I get a display that looks like a QR code, is just pixels on a white background.   I tried to change the clock face, but the phone will not pair with the fitbit.

I tried the pairing instructions, but when I go into Notifications, I don't get the pop-up to pair the phone.

The app says last synched on 10/11 and that it needs a SW update.  I tried to update the SW but it also can't detect the device.

After power reset, I do see it listed in the phone's bluetooth settings menu, but going back to the app it still won't connect.

I should mention I've been trying to reset this multiple times over the last few days.  One time I actually got the display to briefly show, but it went dark again.  Two times I got a happy face, but never anything else.  Sometimes, after reboot is is just dark but when I press the button it vibrates until I let go.

Can you help my sick friend?  my wife wants to count her steps!

thanks

Let's try one issue at a time.

"This is for my wife's charge 3. Mine works fine. I have read relevant posts and tried several times to wake it up without success. I have done it before too. Now, I actually get various results but am never able to connect her phone, a Samsung Galaxy S10 sw up to date."

I don't know what you mean by 'waking it up'.  Some people say that when the display won't come on.  But then you talk about connecting it to her phone, which seems a totally different issue, perhaps as if setting it up for first time.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'waking it up' and 'connecting her phone'?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thank you for your reply. Let me separate those for you:

The display won't come on. I try the power reset and it doesn't work, the
fitbit won't wake up, ie display a normal screen. I know how to do this,
I've had to do the power reset in the past on her fitbit, but never with
mine. This is putting it in the charging cradle and holding the button 15
seconds until it vibrates / pulses and the progress line appears, then
removing and putting it back in the cradle. I think I'm doing it
correctly, but I could be wrong?

I have tried that at least 15 times, with various results. Once the screen
came back but then went dark again. Several times I only got two
vertical white lines (not the horizontal progress bar). Most recently, I
got the progress bar, removed/replaced and the screen remained dark.
Pressing the button while still in the cradle it continued to vibrate as
long as I held the button but never changed the display. I just tried that
again, and it vibrates while I push the button and stops when I let go, but
will not initiate the reset.

WRT the phone connection: Several times, after trying the power reset, I
got scrambled pixels on a white background. The suggested fix for that is
to change the clock face. You can't do that if the fitbit does not connect
to the app.

I thought the sw upgrade required might be a clue to why it got to this
state. So I also tried to do that. Likewise, you cannot do a sw upgrade
if the fitbit does not connect to the app via bluetooth.

I mention that the phone has forgotten the charge 3, because in one post I
read that you need to "forget" the device and reconnect. It is forgotten.
Sorry for mixing troubleshooting steps. I've gone over the forum and
tried as many different ones as I could find. I'm happy to restart in a
deliberate manner, just thought it would be informative to list all the
approaches I've tried.

Does this help? I appreciate your assistance

thanks
