Charge 4 - Screen Wake and Dim Display

ANSWERED

Starting yesterday, my Charge 4 has been behaving badly.  The Screen Wake with the wrist flip (that I have never had any problem making happen) has stopped working.  The only way that I can view the screen is by pressing the button.  Also, when I can view the screen, it is very dim, almost unreadable.

I have held the button for a while to reach the DND screen and scrolled down to Screen Wake, but pushing that button does not solve the problem - nothing changes.

I have also attached the Charge 4 to a powered charging cable, and rebooted the device by holding down the button for the required 8 seconds to get to the happy face icon indicating that the device has been rebooted.  This did not solve the problem either.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just figured out the answer to my own question.  My device was in sleep mode, so I just scrolled to Sleep, hit the Sleep icon, and voila! all is working again.

@BobPowers , Nice to see you here. Thank you for sharing your experience and the solution found.

I'm glad that it was just the sleep mode setting on the Charge 4.

I have the same problem as @BobPowers and I did exactly the same with the sleep mode but the brightness is still very dim, hardly readable. Is there anything else I could do? Cheers

I'm having a similar problem. I don't see any "sleep mode." Are you talking about the sleep sensitivity under the app settings? or the sleep schedule under activity and wellness? or something else?

my screen was dim also. go to settings, click on brightness and you can change it there

Hold the side button on the Charge 4. You’ll see the DND icon (do not disturb) and the Sleep icon. Hitting the Sleep icon toggles on/off the mode that dims the screen and turns off/on the Quick View via wrist action.

I've tried that but it's not helping. Normal and Automatic are like Dim on my wife's Charge 4 and Dim on my watch not even readable.

Same problem.  I think the dim setting is sometimes as issue, but then with many many of the devices, the screen just stays dim and is not related i the setting.
some

users in the forum have had success with support, in the form of getting a discount off a replacement fitbit.  I was told a dim screen is not a fault

and is just something I must live with.
Good luck either way.

Hi, please help.

I've read many instructions that say "press and hold both side buttons" (which the Charge 4 doesn't have).

Or, press and hold the (one) side button.

But when I do that, it asks for my password to open my Google Pay.

??

Thank you!
