I see that there has been a recent recall of the Ionic smartwatches. Allegedly 115 reports in the United States (and 59 reports internationally) cases of; battery overheating burn hazards.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced overheating in a fitbit charge 4?
I had one that seemed to have a battery and/or possibly charging circuit failure that resulted in overheating.
I sent in mine and received an exchange that works fine so far. Thank you very much.
However I'm concerned that there may have been some bad batteries and or some other quality control issues that may have affected other models Beside the Ionic smartwatches.
I first noticed a problem with my first charge 4; after I charged it and it didn't seem to take a charge. Shortly after putting it back on and using it, I got a low battery message even though it was more than 50% charged, a few minutes earlier. So I put it on charge, and then when I took it off of charge it was hot and the battery was dead so the device would not turn on.
Thankfully I received a replacement, however I never received any feedback. I'm concerned there might be some other bad battery or charging systems failures that cause overheating.
The recall on the Ionic smartwatches, was shortly after I was sent a replacement for my Charge 4 that had overheated.
I was not injured.

I also was having overheating problems with my fitbit charge 4. To the point where I would have to take it off because it was hurting. And then last week I put it in to charge and when I came back it was completely dead and extremely hot. It hasn't turned back on and doesn't take a charge. So I think the battery blew? I was given the fitbit through a research project at my University, so I don't have access to the warranty information to get a new one, but also wondering if I buy another one, if this is an ongoing problem.

Try to get Fitbit to take yours back and replace it. Hopefully they will troubleshoot returns like this to see if there is quality control or design problems. Hopefully they can improve the product. Might prevent fires and/or injuries.

At least you didn't have to pay for your device. My charge 4 the battery dies after 4 hours even when sleeping. 18 days outside warranty, Fitbit won't do anything.

Good luck with that better not be on day 366 or Fitbit won't care.
