I recently restarted my device and since then the screen does not become active when I motion my arm up to look at it. Worked without any problems before then. This not working is really inconvenient, since now I have to hit the side button any time I want to check the time or anything else on the watch or check things during a workout. Any help is appreciated.

Hi, @Jimmac24 Touch the side button (long press) and you should get the Do not disturb & sleep icons, swipe up and you get "screen wake"

Hi, @Jimmac24 welcome to the community, there are a couple of settings to look at, you may have changed one inadvertently. Swipe left from the clock face to and touch Settings. The first one you see is "Brightness" this needs to be on auto or normal. Swipe up until you reach "Do not disturb" and "Sleep", these need to be off. If you have "Sleep mode" set make sure you are not in a sleep period. These settings, if "on", dim the display, disable the wrist flick action, disable notifications and default to the side button to display the dimmed clock face. This is designed so you do not light up the device if restless in bed or are disturbed by notifications.
I hope this helps.
Cheers

Brightness was auto, sleep and DND were both off. I changed brightness to normal to see if that made a difference, it did not. I restarted to see if that made a difference and it still is not working.

Have you checked your sleep mode? Enabling sleep mode will disable screen wake, and notifications.
DND I believe only disables notifications
Also check the quick view/Screen wake option

Sleep mode is off, I don't see a quick view or screen wake option.

Thanks, that worked. I don't know how screen wake ended up getting turned off, as I've never been in that menu before. Turning it back on fixed it.

There is NO sleep wake. I cannot see the time when driving. It is dangerous to take my hands off the wheel to press a button on my watch to see the time. My car does not show the time, too old
