Charge 4 screen brightness

Charge 4 now unusable : device fully charged even with maximum screen brightness settings, the screen is not readable even in a completely dark room. Reset (pushing and holding left side button for over 10 seconds) does not change anything. Selecting different clockfaces does not change anything. This is not the first complaint that has been issued on this Forum. Please tell me how to fix this, but not in your general terms, because all that does not solve the issue. Most complaints have hinted at a software update as the most probable cause.

I've had the same issue with my Charge 4, I was unable to adjust the brightness and when I finally decided it was impossible, I put my fitbit away for a few years.  Today I thought I would try again, but yet again, am unable to brighten up the face.  Here are my issues with my Fitbit charger 4:

1) I cannot change the settings, nothing happens when I click on the "settings" ... I've tried this a number of times.

2) I've held the side button in for up to 9 seconds, nothing changes.

3) Sleep always shows, I am unable to change it to a wakeup screen.

This is my 3rd fitbit.  The first one was my fault, I had left it in the charger too long.  My second choice was the Inspire 2, I discontinued wearing that due to the burning of the skin under the watch.   I've later read that wearers are advised not to wear the fitbit 2 as it might cause redness.  Well, I imagine that there is a different type of metal used in that style and I wasn't comfortable in wearing it at all.

thanks. In the end I digested from the multiple entries, and from the standard support advice,  that this device was beyond fixing and therefore I ordered a Charge 6. I saw no other solution.
