I’ve experienced the black screen of death like many others are reporting since the update - fully charged but won’t turn on, side button isn’t responsive. And now my charge 4 is working again but the screen is now unresponsive. I’ve tried resetting and all that jazz but still nothing 😞

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps performed. I'd recommend you follow these steps to restart your device.
Also you can try to change your clock face, if this fixes the issue, you can change it back to the original clock face. If you are using a third-party clock face, please switch to a Fitbit clock face and try the troubleshooting again.
