why won't my charge 4 connect to GPS? It just keeps on showing "connecting" but never does. Had no trouble with the Ionic GPS connecting...

Same issue, after several weeks of my Charge 4 running successfully, it now won't connect. The triangle just keeps wobbling and won't connect, even using my smartphone won't allow connected GPS. This needs to be fixed or I'll be back fro another warranty return.

It seems that this does drain the battery, but on balance is better than having a GPS-enabled watch that can’t connect to GPS.  Hopefully they will eventually get this fixed, but for now that work around seems the best solution for most people.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

On my run today, I stopped the Fitbit to do some exercises, it recorded the
second half of the run, not the first., I don't care about battery drain, I
just want to track my speed and route accurately. After 2 good months since
new, it's playing up. Very frustrating.

Hi Alejandra,

I’ve tried all your below suggestions and my GPS on my charge 4 is still not working. It wouldn’t have anything to do with location or cloud cover though because I’ve been running the same route in similar conditions for months, and I’ve only had this issue for the last few weeks. What can I do to fix it?

Thanks for the suggestion, I just changed my settings to see if it makes a difference. (Took me a while to discover these settings are on the wristband itself, not the app). Thanks for your help, I'll see how it goes on my run tomorrow.

Just to reiterate - the work around suggested by @ASHKSU  seems to work, albeit with some additional battery drain (so may be a problem if your work out is a very long one).

“GPS settings to Built-in GPS, GLONASS to On, and GPS Low Power Mode to Off.“

Then you can go for a run, leave your phone at home, and still get an accurate record.

I have the same problem as everyone else. Bought this watch for 250 Aussie dollars mainly for the GPS and initially the GPS was working fine (connecting in less than a minute). A few weeks ago it starting losing connection during my runs and recently not connecting at all from the start. I think it is a software issue as it was working a few weeks ago and everyone else is having the same problem. So I am sure Fitbit will send an update soon to fix. It was disappointing to see the useless post by the Fitbit forum administrator though. The least they can do is admit there is a problem and say they are working on it. In the meantime I will try the GLONAS etc.  suggestions and worstbc case my chunky phone with me on my runs until Fitbit get their act together.

My charge 4 was working with GPS and tracking the route of my walk. Now it quit working correctly and gets the error message that it can't connect. What would cause that to change? Same route as always.

Mine worked great for the first two weeks. Now it connects initially but loses the connection while I'm running. Very frustrating!

Exact same thing is happening to me. Worked great for the first couple of weeks and now it fails every time I try to use GPS.

ALL WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE GPS ISSUE WITH CHARGE 4.  SUGGESTIONS FROM @ASHKSU AND @PF77 THE BELOW CHANGES ON THE SETTINGS THROUGH THE FACE OF THE TRACKER IS WHAT WILL FIX THE GPS ISSUE.  It DOES drain the battery much more quickly than the default.

*********I HOPE FITBIT FIXES THIS ISSUE SOON!!!!!*******************

With the work around settings it seems to work fine even under thick cloud.

Nup, the “fixes” don’t work for me. Only way to connect is to have the app open on a particular page. Really annoying of course.

Try the fix suggested, hook up to the Glonass (Russian) satellite,
switch to 'built in' GPS, low power off, see how it goes.

I'm having the same issue, started off taking longer and longer to connect, now it won't connect to GPS at all. Wiltshire UK.

Bad luck, it might depend on your location perhaps? It's clearly a Fitbit
problem, as it was working fine until the July update,
