I'm not getting a score, and no sleep stages, I only ever got this once on the first night I used it. Now, it is cutting short my sleep tracking, saying I only slept 2 hours or something like that when I know that I slept all night, just like last night. I slept solidly with no waking for 6 hours. Tracking said I slept only 1 and a half hours, so no data. That has happened on all the nights but the first night. I bought this tracker to use for steps, heart rate and sleep, the only part working properly is the steps. Heart rate although being tracked in real life, so I can see it on my watch, isn't showing for example when I meditate, or when I sleep and just tells me to wear my Fitbit while sleeping or meditating which I already do! I can manually get a whole night tracked for sleep but that doesn't provide me with the details of REM sleep or any of the stages which is why I bought one of these! Totally frustrated and looking through the forums this problem is common. So if I don't get a fix soon I will be searching for a more compatible tracker for my Samsung Galaxy s20. Everything on both devices is as up to date as possible, they are only a few days old each. Please help.

Hi, @Moreta56 welcome to the community, it's a pity you are having a problem with your sleep data. May I draw your attention to How do I track my sleep with my Fitbit device? which provides considerable detail on the issue and will I hope, allow you to make progress. If you are still stuck please post here again.

Thanks Grandpa! None of the documentation tips worked, what did work in the end was deleting each log and then re entering it manually. I now have a full two weeks of complete reports and sleep scores. It isn't ideal to have to do this on such an expensive watch but I'm hoping there will eventually be a software update of the app which will fix it properly so I and others don't have to go through the mountain of fixes that don't work and then end up editing the logs every day. I love the info I get via the sleep score and the proper graphs with stages though.

My fitbit 4 does not track my sleep consistently. It does not recognize when I am asleep or awake, as I routinely get the message to wear my fitbit to bed. I believe the problem is me. I have Parkinson's Disease and am very restless in my sleep (or so my wife says.) The fitbit algorithm does not understand that level of activity and interprets the data as wakefulness. To test this, my wife and I traded fitbits at night a couple of times. Sleep recorded when she wore my fitbit, but not when I wore hers, When we switched back, the fitbit worked for her, but mine did not record. This is extremely frustrating as I need a record of sleep to inform decisions in treating my PD.
I previously had a fitbit 3 which stopped recording sleep. I spent hours chatting with 5 technicians over a couple of months to resolve the issue. Nothing worked, so I was given a coupon to replace the 3 or get a 4 at reduced cost, which I did. When the new device failed to record my sleep the first night i wore it, I figure something was wrong with me. That's when I did the switch test.
My advice to those of you who have "tried everything but nothing works" is to switch fitbits with someone else and see what happens. And my request to fitbit is to work on an algorithm that will recognize restless sleep such as mine for what it is and provide data that assess quality of sleep.

Hi
yes the manual did not answer this problem.
May I ask how do you delete each log and enter again manually?
Thanks

This work-around worked for me too but very frustrating that I have to delete and re-enter sleep details EVERY night. Definitely needs to be fixed.

I have a similar problem - very frustrating.
Regardless how tight or up the wrist I ware it (or left or right arm), it either record I've had 2 hours sleep or longer but does not score for some reason.
I use sleep cycle on my iPhone and that works well. I wish Charge 4 was also doing it's job. I went through every FAQ on the subject, It's not helping.
How do you recreate a sleep score by entering it manually?
@Fitbit Do you respond to queries like these or is there a different way to get things on your cards?

I re-entered a sleep times manually but it does not give me any of the interesting sleep stages (REM, Light and Deep) or score (poor, Fair, etc.) so it's not that helpful. I started to use my Charger 4 since Sept 1st 2020, every night since but it ever recorded sleep stages 16 times and the best score was fair! I sleep well, feel rested in the morning but wake up an average of 3 times in the night. Fitbits does not contributes to me understanding and knowing how I sleep really. Pity!

There's a detailed description of how to enter the log manually, even has screenshots, on a different thread. If you go back to the Charge 4 forum main list, up near the top is a post titled Charge 4 won't registering (sic) sleep stages. It's by PeacheaterUK posted on the 21st of November. It's the method I've been using for a while now and it shows all the detail you need. It's easy enough to do once you try it although we shouldn't have to do things that way. All the data is collected, it just needs to be 'woken up'. I just commented on the post myself so you can always search my user name.
Good luck. Sinha this might answer your question also.

I am having the same issue, it seemed to be working for the first week then after the battery died and I charged it I found it was no longer tracking my sleep. This is one of the main reasons I purchased this Fitbit was for sleep tracking because my sleep habits are terrible. I am so disappointed to see that so many others are having the same issues. I and up and down on night most nights and it was showing that. Since I recharged it and put it back on 4 days ago, it only tracked one night and the other 3 nights have no data. For the first time in a very long time I slept really good last night. I only woke up twice and that was because I had to go to the restroom. Each time, I was able to go right back to sleep and that rarely ever happens. Most of the time I can't fall asleep, I wake up throughout the night and end up being awake anywhere of 30 minutes to an hour each time. I was excited to see my sleep pattern for last night and what I found was "NO DATA" I am so very upset. I am checking the return policy on this after seeing all other issues expressed by everyone on this thread and hopefully returning this for a refund.

I have the same issue. Even deleting and re-entering log doesn't seem to help in seeing the sleep score. Thinking of returning the fitbit charge 4.
Just go to sleep option in the fitbit app. There is 'delete log' option on the top right drop down button.

Wow they are gonna cut off the reply to this link, shame on them. I am
definitely returning this charge 4 they should not advertise services it
does not even offer. What a rip off, then do not even want other people to
be able to reply to what is going on and issues they are having shame on
fitbit.

I'm not getting a sleep score. I have tried rebooting band, phone, and deleting and reentering sleep log. Now it's not loading the meditation apps zi'm paying premium for.

Oh wow, looks like this is a common problem! Not sure why the sleep stage data isn't consistently recorded, which is a shame because it is one of the better features of the tracker. Hopefully a fix comes soon.
Fitbit moderators - any suggestions?

Started to use Fitbit on 1/9, it’s now 21/12
Fitbit never record my full night sleep or split it into 2 or 3 chunks. Every day I have to edit the result to extend the start and end time. Over all these 112 nights, Fitbit only gave me sleep stages (REM, Light and Deep) and score (poor, Fair, etc.) for 18 nights.
I’ve done all the FAQs several times, reset the device several times, it does not make a blind difference.
bah !

Hi HFL, don't just edit the result to extend the start and end times. Instead, delete the result or if it's in separate pieces delete them all, and then go to Add Log (or sleep whichever it says), not Edit. Then as you add the log, enter in the correct times there, making sure it starts on the right day, the night before, and that it says pm, not am, as it often goes to the wrong day and time thinking you want to add a sleep in for that day. So, for example, enter a sleep from 10.30 pm the night before to 7 am today. Save it, then it will generate all the sleep data and stages with all the detail you need along with a proper sleep score. I've been using this method for a month at least now and it always works. I think your issue may have been trying to edit the existing results rather than deleting them and adding the times manually. Nukeco this is for you also.

I’m not sure that Fitbit moderators come here.
i did contact the support service (Twitter) and they came back to me with suggestions but that did not solve the issue.
If one does not have a good night sleep, Charge-4 get confused and does not record correctly both the time in bed and the stages+scores.
