Charge3 value impaired

Three members of my family had a Charge3. All three of us had it break at about the one year point. For myself it was just under a year, and I got a replacement. For my mother, it was just over a year, and she got a discount code of 35 percent - too low for her to consider it a good value, or even feel good about getting a new one as a gift. For seniors who are just now using smartphones and other new technology, the Fitbit has been a great way to keep in touch during the pandemic but at the same time, too much. She doesn’t use many of the special features. Predominantly, she uses the step counter and the ability to accept challenges in the community. Keeping in touch is such a special feature, but when it comes at the cost of what seems to her an expensive product that breaks after a year, it’s not a good experience. I wish Fitbit could create a better experience for older generations who grew up thrifty and don’t get a good vibe from the “replace with new gadgets” tech culture. Fitness is especially important with aging and the older generation is very important. Please do not forget them. My mother has a poor sense of the company now. I wish you could help make it right - also for my sake, because I have enjoyed connecting with her this way. She was disappointed with not being able to use the product discount promo at the same time as a sale after her Charge3 broke- even though I bought her a certificate on Giftly, she now doesn’t feel good about the company.

@ChristineEB It's great to see you in the Community!

Sorry to hear about this. Support does follow the guidelines described in the warranty so if the device is outside the warranty period they won't be able to replace it. This is why they offer a discount to help customers in this situation. Still thank you for sharing your feedback.

If she doesn't use too many features she could consider the Inspire series which will track her steps and sleep without too many additional features and it is at a lower price. Also an extended warranty could help her as she has the option of purchasing one from the Fitbit store (amazon and other retailers also have this option).

I'll be around.
