Cracked screens

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi all, I am here again to report another cracked screen. My wife’s Alta HR developed a crack down the screen and she got it replaced under warranty. My Charge 2 developed a crack down the screen and I got it replaced under warranty and now my replacement Charge 2 has developed a similar crack down the right side of the screen. Unfortunately, refurbished devices, which my replacement is, are only covered by a 90 day warranty so I will have to live with a cracked screen. I suppose my tail is a cautionary one for you all to regularly check for cracks developing on your devices screen, and if you see one, as they do appear to be a common fault on certain devices, Get your claim in before your warranty expires. Fitbit were very good in providing us with replacements but I do call into question quality of screens on the devices we have bought.

My Charge 2 screen has been cracked for almost a year now. It cracked when I fell, and I never put in a claim. It’s worked fine - just have to put up with the crack.

My Charge 2 cracked down both sides a couple years ago. I do alot of outdoor activities and one faitful day it was exposed to too much sun and heat. My neighbor has the same device but her crack is right down the middle,  little more annoying.

I've learned to live with it as this seams to be a popular flaw. Good to know when I buy my new Fitbit,  hurry up and make a warranty claim.

My wife’s Charge 2 has a crack in middle of screen also. The green lights flash but no display, just black. Is this repairable?

Hi Chabon, I don't think Charge2's hardware is repairable but there may be
a software or firmware fix to get it working again. You need one of Fitbits
guys to let you know.

Hi. Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same issue with my screen. I don't recall ever dropping my device, but one day the crack just appeared. I never thought to contact customer support, but I wish I had now having read the posts in this thread, seems to be a common issue. Is there anything I can do to get it fixed?

Hi Palm84,

It all depends on how long you have had your device and what the warranty
cover is for your region. I’m sure a Fitbit Moderator will respond and
advise you in due course.

Thank you for posting this. My Charge 2 developed a crack in the right hand side of the screen about a year ago despite haven’t not dropped it or banged it on anything. I’m not sure if it’s still under warranty, I can’t recall when I bought it. I’ve just lived with it but it does bug me. However on speaking to my friend yesterday, who also has a Charge 2, she advised the same has happened to her screen. I’m also looking for a second hand one for my daughter and many I’m seeing for sale have a cracked screen too. I wish now I’d looked into this when it first happened as I’m pretty sure it was in warranty then 😞

I'm not even sure when my Charge 2's screen cracked. As the crack is more is less straight down the middle, I at first thought it was the shape of the screen. But, no, it's definitely a crack. It doesn't affect the performance of the fitbit so I'm putting up with it. I wish I'd noticed earlier though, and then I'd have claimed under the warranty. I think I've had the device for about 2 years. I'm not even sure how long the warranty is for.
