Exercise tracking twice

Hi,

I've just upgraded to a Charge 2 and I've noticed that the app on my iPhone is recording my exercise twice.

I first noticed this after i went for a run on Sunday morning. My Fitbit told me that I'd reached 10,000 steps, which was not the case as my morning had only consisted of waking up and going on a 3.78 mile run (definitely not 10,000 steps). I tried restarting the Fitbit but to no avail.

The same thing happened on Tuesday morning and when I checked the app, it showed the GPS run at 7.03 am and a separate tracked exercise an hour earlier at 6.04 am. Again, this was first thing in the morning so the only thing I'd done before the run was sleep. I, however, put this down to the time difference as I was in France and my watch and iPhone displayed two different times.

The same thing happened again yesterday when I was back home. This is starting to get frustrating as my step count is doubled after every run and defeating the whole purpose behind a Fitbit. I had a Charge HR before and didn't experience any issues. Can anyone help?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Nikki_N. It's great to have you here. If you have your Fitbit account linked to a third party app, I would recommend making sure you are not manually logging the running sessions in the other app since your Fitbit Charge 2 has already recorded them.

Additionally, please check out if the place where you leave your tracker there is an electronic appliance issuing vibrations. Those vibrations can be recorded by your Fitbit tracker as steps.

Whether the above is not your case, it could be a good idea setting up your Fitbit Charge 2 as a replacement device. Rest assured, your synced data will remain the same.

Let me know how it goes. Catch you later. Smiley Happy

Hi,

I tried the suggested remedies but nothing worked. As a last resort I removed my Charge HR (previous device) from my profile so that there was only one left. I don't know if this was the cause of the issue but my Fitbit seems to be working now.

I hope that helps.

It's great to see that you've visited the Fitbit Community @Murlio. Have you linked your Fitbit account to a third party app? Some users log their activities in both accounts and this double their activities. We recommend logging the activity in just one place.

If you have tried the recommendation mentioned above without luck, please be so kind to contact Customer Support. I'm pretty sure they will be happy to provide assistance as soon as possible.

Thanks for the update @Nikki_N. I'm glad to hear that you've resolved the problem.

Keep up the super stepping. Cat Happy

Hi @EdsonFitbit

As the fitbit doesn't have a Cross trainer setting, I log into the Gym's Cross fit trainer and this tracks my workout. But then my fitbit (versa) is also logging the steps/heart rate. I would have thought the Gym Cross Trainer data to be more accurate, but i obviously dont want to track my workouts twice. is there a way, i can set my Gym's Cross trainer data over-write my fitbits data for that time?

I have the same problem. I start my watch to track the treadmill. At the exact same time, my Fitbit Charge 2 records that I did a run. Both have different average heart rates and number of calories burned. I have a third party app installed now, but this was happening months ago when I was using it solo.

I think it may have to do with the fact that I have my watch automatically tracking my activity. If I don't start the treadmill on the watch, then it doesn't record the run either. It doesn't "double count" when I do a workout.
