I have had about 3 new watches in 4 years. Is this something Fitbit do to make people keep buying? I just don’t get why, they, stop charging or the screens go completely. These are such a waste of money!

You answered your own question.
Why do Fitbits break so fast?
Because we keep buying them.
Maybe they should just come out with a lease program - new Fitbit every 12 months for $199 / year - that's pretty much how they sell them today.

Or maybe we should just buy a different brand. Loyalty should be a mutual thing.

I’m in the exact same boat. Screen went all crazy and this was the replacement of the replacement.
I think there has to be a better option than disposable trackers.

I just had to replace my seven month old Sense today. EVERY Fitbit device I have owned, and this is my fourth type now, has died within a year, and then the warranty replacement also died within a year. If Apple watches can be made to last for years, why can't Fitbits? Or maybe that's the whole "you get what you pay for" concept. Unfortunately, a Sense does most of the things an Apple watch will, for half the price. Maybe if Fitbit marketed the product in this way and even raised the price $50 to ensure a higher quality battery, screen, and case, they'd have happier customers. But no, they just want sales numbers, like everyone else. Garmin is no better, just a lot more expensive. I had to Garmin watches before I stupidly switched to Fitbit, thinking that since they were cheaper, that I wouldn't care as much about longevity; wrong. To be fair I only buy these things now because I get points from my health insurance vendor that I can use to buy online gift cards and or fitness gear. I also have gotten several additional personal days from work from said points. Still, the poor ownership experience makes me question that decision every time I have to to through this.
