FitBit Charge 2 Losing steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi

For the last 2 weeks my fitbit has been showing and notifying me of the amount of steps that I have left, then 2 hours later it is readjusting itself to up to 1000 steps less.

For Example: Went for an afternoon walk checked my display it was showing 8530 steps, got a drop down notification of: You only have 1470 steps to hit your daily target.

2 hours later, get up to walk about the office my counter has reset itself to 8125!!

A week ago - notification - only 90 steps until you've nailed your daily goal - do those 90 steps, it vibrates on my arm. 2 hours later, just before I get into bed I resync and check my steps 9470!!

how have I lost these steps? I don't remember this ever doing this to me before?

Also, my husband has a fitbit flex. I ran 4 miles. Came back, we walked exactly the same distance afterwards - he had done nothing since this walk (apart from round the house potter max of 2k steps)

Check steps against each other - he had done 12K and I had done 15K and I was 4 mile run ahead of him?!?!

our stride pattern is exactly the same - why is this happening?

@CmMc80 Thanks for participating in our Fitbit Community! Seems odd that your Charge 2 is losing steps during the day. I would like to follow up and would like to know if the issue persists or if your Charge 2 is not losing steps anymore. In the meantime, please try restarting your tracker as advised in Ferdinand's post in order to refresh your tracker internally. Once you've restarted your tracker, please test it's behavior and see if the issue gets fixed.

Keep me posted on the outcome my friend! Smiley Happy

Hi,

My charge 2 is doing exactly the same. I was over 9k steps after my run tonight...couple hours later I'm back at 8000. I've tried restarting and it doesn't seem to help.

Any advice on what worked for you?

Thanks,

Sarah

The same thing happened to me twice last week. I’m wondering if my new Bluetooth headphones have anything to do with it.

I got in touch with support and it was to do with the recorded activities overwriting the auto tracked steps. I've unlinked my Strava account and hopefully that will solve the problem.

I deleted the activities on the days I had the problem and it gave me the steps back. Hope it helps you x

I have been having same problem! I finished a run today and was just over 30000 steps, then after I synced, it went down to 27000 steps!!!

Do you use Strava or anything to record your run? I unlinked mine yesterday, went for a run today and it seems to have synced ok!

@Cronester @Nicdolly @DocMartine A warm welcome to our Community! As @Cronester mentioned manually logged activities will overwrite the data your tracker saved and this may affect the steps you see on your account. Activities logged from other apps like Strava do show as manually logged activities on your account so it is the same principle. Check if you have manually logged activities or if you have a third party app logging activities for the same time as this may affect your step count.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks so much for this - I had it linked to my Strava profile, so I suspect that was over riding it - I’ve unlinked now so hopefully it will have fixed the issue!

I don't, Cronester. I am going to try it today with wired headphones--I have just about convinced myself that it's the Bluetooth headphones I just bought. It's a shame if it is, because I love them!

@DocMartine unless you use them to track a run it can't be them. They sound awesome though!

Do you start a run tracking with fitbit app? Could be that conflicting against it auto tracking if you have that set too?

That could be--I'll check my settings.
