I've had the Charge 3 for 4 days, it tracked Sleep for 2 days then stopped. I tried setting it to Sensitive on my computer and I get an error message "Oops something went wrong" but nothing tells me what or why. Additionally, it won't swipe left for settings on the unit itself like the instructions and video show. Is it defective? I've uninstalled, reset, updated the firmware...what else can I do?

So, in the last week and half, my Fitbit does the sleep tracking correctly without any modification and different use by my side. Except for single day, which I had to edit and find the exact moment it switches to the pattern.
I did not updated to the new firmware, as I heard many issues about it, and for me, the new firmware, takes away the clock face that I'm using. I do have the latest Android App though.
I think they did something behind the scene, if the calculations does goes to their main sever and back.

I really think Fitbit has hoodooed a lot of us!

To remove and re-instate the data, you should first write down the time duration so you can write it back.
next, when you hold and press the sleep data line you want to delete, it should pop up a dialog with the delete action. (this is how it is done on the Android device, it is probably the same on the iPhone)
next, on top, press the '+' icon, and from there you should be able to punch in the sleep duration (the UI is a bit tricky, but, you will find how to do it easily)

Thanks for this, pretty simple way to fix the issue of seeing the stages.
Been using the charge 3 for two weeks now. Never have I owned something with so many glitches. Now if I can get it to record a full nights sleep consistently I feel I can live with it.

I’ve had the same experience tracked for the 1st 8 nights and stopped, no matter what I did. Thinking of returning it and getting a Alta.

My Fitbit 3 automatically tracked sleep patterns for about two weeks, then stopped. It’s constantly “syncing” without finishing. I’ll remove and re-set the device several times a day, but it always winds up in same, non-function state. It’s become just an overly expensive digital watch. I’m sleeping worse now. How do I fix it?

Got my Charge 3 on Dec 18. Between then and Jan 1, was getting sleep stage reading about 50% of nights. Since Jan 1, have not once gotten sleep stage reading. This fact, combined with the posts on this thread, leads me to believe that Fitbit is lying about their algorithm. Poor tech support people can't admit that the algirithm/firmware is hosed, even if they know it is. Management should make fixing it a priority. Not doing so is just plain sleazy.

"Poor tech support people can't admit that the algorithm/firmware is hosed, even if they know it is."
I've come to the conclusion that the cause for poor sleep tracking is an UNKNOWN. I say that because it appears that only a subset of users ( including myself) have experienced such difficulty. If it was a software or hardware problem, I would think that we would see MANY more posts on the issue.
I think that the Charge 3 simply has a hard time monitoring the pulse rate at night for those of us who can't get sleep reports consistently. I run a low heart rate but do not have atrial fibrillation. The daytime readings for my pulse are on target.

I, too, have this problem. It tracked the first night, and has not the next two nights. Last night I put the strap on tighter. That didn't fix it.
I attempted this process. It did not work for me.

Try this:
1. Memorize basic sleep/wake times.
2. Delete the basic record (sleep/restless/awake)
3. Enter a manual record using the times from the basic record.
REM/Light/Deep stages will appear.
I did have a case where I got up, fed the pets, and then lay down again the last two nights when it failed to register sleep stages. It's possible that caused a problem. While I can try changing this behavior to see if it fixes the problem, I reject having to change such a minor behavior to satisfy a tech device.
If that doesn't fix it, then I will attempt changing the sleep sensitivity. If that doesn't do it, then I'll return it.

Im having the same
problems. Tried to email support just to find copy paste answers from horrible passive aggressive representatives with no tech knowledge.
Never buying another Fitbit.
