Fitbit Charge 3 Not Tracking Sleep Stages

I've had the Charge 3 for 4 days, it tracked Sleep for 2 days then stopped.  I tried setting it to Sensitive on my computer and I get an error message "Oops something went wrong" but nothing tells me what or why.  Additionally, it won't swipe left for settings on the unit itself like the instructions and video show.  Is it defective?  I've uninstalled, reset, updated the firmware...what else can I do?

So I found an annoying but effective solution. Delete the log that the Fitbit recorded automatically. Enter the time you went to bed, and woke up manually.... Voila! I've got my R.E.M., deep sleep, the works! It's worked two nights in a row now. The first night I used the "begin sleep now" button, and the second night I did not. Deleting and manually entering my time worked for both! I hope this helps, and if it stops working for me I will definitely update you.

Hmm... One guy said he had to delete and add multiple times? Looks like
we're all getting glitchy results.

Have my charge 3 since Xmas. Last 3 nights no sleep stages have been tracked. The first night it said it couldn't get the heart rate reading  so I adjusted it. The next two nights it just says it didn't track it, no reason given at all.

If I access the heart rate monitor according to that the tracker was tracking my sleep.

Also, when I swipe up, the device never says that it tracked my sleep, even when the app did.

Sleeping 7 hours + so not too short a time frame. Adjusted it to precisely where it's meant to be, slept in position I slept in every time it worked before. And it won't even give me a hint of what's stopping it.

Sleep stages started working for me (most nights) after I upgraded the app
to the latest version. Good luck!

Any update on these issues.

Mine was working fine till 2 weeks ago. Did a long restart and was fine for a week. Long restart it worked for a few days. Another long restart and it's not giving me sleep stages.

Getting very annoyed now. I bought the Charge 3 specifically for the sleep stages.

My solution from another thread: (Edit:  Android only)

Many people will give you the old "please try these steps" spiel.  I have found none of them to be the consistent answer.  For quite some time, I just accepted that the band wasn't tracking sleep because of the fit, or because I moved too much in my sleep, or it lost the heartbeat.  All of which would make basic sleep come up instead.  Plus for me, it never syncs sleep unless I add it manually, which is another problem altogether.

Here is what I do instead, and I get sleep stages every day.  I start the app, then turn airplane mode on for the phone.  I wait for the app to say it is disconnected, then turn airplane mode off.  I add sleep, tell it how long I slept, and like magic, sleep stages appear.  If, in the rare event, it tracks partial sleep, I delete that one, airplane on/off, then add the correct sleep time.  I have even been able to go back a day or three and delete/re-add prior days and they change to sleep stages.

As I have been able to get this to work consistently, I conclude the problem is with the Fitbit app.  I hope this gives you actual help without having to go thru all the hoops that never worked for me.

Get your app fixed Fitbit!

Hi LeahV

I had seen a similar suggestion saying to remove and re add the sleep times. It didn't work then. I tried it with going into airplane mode etc and it still didn't work for me. 😩

You need to wait for the charge to sync, then turn on airplane mode, wait for the app to say connect to the internet, turn off airplane mode, wait for it to sync again, then you should be able to add sleep start and end and get sleep stages.

I am able to get it to work every day, so the only thing I can think is to make sure your app is updated.  I suppose it could also be phone model issue.  I have an android Samsung Galaxy 8+.

The sleep where there are no stages were naps less than 3 hours.

It's a tad annoying

yes my app is up to date using IphoneX with the latest iOS and in the UK

I have replied to my original email to Fitbit saying the issue is back

Well, there you go - Android and Apple platforms are different, and what works on one certainly may not work on the other.  My workaround is for Android.

Has anyone on Apple found a workaround for this problem?

😁 I think when something goes wrong  and the simple restart doesn't work your willing to try just about anything 😁

Thanks

The problem you are having is indicative of the fact that the charge 3 is truly and genuinely a piece of **ahem**.  The only thing mine does correctly is the time.  It really is a joke.  Tech support told me not to wear it during some activities to prevent  it from giving me false information.  I'm serious, they really did.

Don't spend your money on this scam.
