Thanks for the explanation and your initiative to solve this on your own. Even though the app shows that the device is charged, that was the status at the time of the last sync. However, the battery may be empty. In these cases I recommend the tips in the following article: Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?.
I was informed that you are in contact with support already. Keep in touch with support. They will provide you with a suitable resolution!
