I bought Charge 3 yesterday; the box contained one-half of an extra band. Should there be 2 pieces?

The metal clasp side stays the same for both S/M and the M/L bands. So the three pieces are all you need to fit the correct size for your wrist.

It is correct the way it came.  One piece stays on the watch; just switching the other piece changes size.  That way, they can more easily include both sizes with just one extra piece.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
