Fitbit charge 2 won’t pair with iPhone 8+

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’ve looked through about a million threads and tried all of the tricks I’ve seen mentioned. My iPhone 8 Plus will not pair with my Fitbit Charge 2. It keeps saying pair failed. I’ve made sure Bluetooth is on (turned it off then on), restarted my phone, restarted my Fitbit, logged out and in the app, force quit the app, tried to replace the Fitbit that it was synced to, deleted the Fitbit that was synced.

I dont know know what else to try. I get the code to pair and then it’s failed every time! Been trying for nearly an hour and a half.

Hey @cnmccann, it is cool to see new faces around! Ok, let me ask you something, you already have paired this Charge 2 before, right? But you now want to use it with a iPhone 8+, is that correct? If so, then you just need to download the Fitbit app, log into your account and sync, but if it is not syncing, maybe you have many Bluetooth devices connected to your phone, so I would recommend you to turn off some of them so they won't interfere with the connection between your tracker and your phone. If still not syncing, I would suggest you to try to sync your Charge 2 with a computer, to see if it works, and help me out to determine if the issue is with the tracker itself or with your iOS device.

Let me know how it goes! 😉

I had the same thing happen to me. Did you figure it out? I get the code on the charge screen and that’s it. Nothing happens?

Nope, nothing works. I can sync but not pair. Once I get the code it always says cannot pair. The directions the moderator gave me were for syncing which isn’t an issue. Just can’t get notifications. 🤨

Nothing is working.  Tried all of your advice.  It will sync but not pair. So, no notifications. Any other suggestions?

I have the same issue. Charge 2 will sync with iPhone 8+ but will not issue notifications and I cannot turn on all day sync. Must be buggy software or something.

I was having the same problem, and this is what fixed it for me. I deleted my Fitbit from the app, and then I went to my Bluetooth settings and delected my there as well. Then I went back to the Fitbit app and tried to pair the Fitbit with my iPhone and it fixed the problem. Hopefully this helps!

This is ridiculous. My Charge 2 was syncing just fine, then is stopped.

Now I find out that I can't even pair it with my iPhone 8+, despite having tried every suggestion I can find in this forum.

When are you going to fix this, Fitbit?

@Finfast @JohnZehr A warm welcome to our Community! @JohnZehr not sure what you have tried but you can delete all the devices listed on your bluetooth settings on your phone. Restart your iPhone and then restart your tracker by doing the following:

Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

Open the Fitbit app and a sync should start.

@Finfast thank you for sharing what you did to help others in this thread.

I've tried this for several hours and have the same problem.  I've used every code... Nothing.  Just a message that there was a problem during the pairing.

I've tried everything you've suggested... including trying to pair it with the computer.  Still nothing. VERY frustrating

Hey @bkh821, it is great to see you around more often! Let me ask you this, what is the error message that you are getting when trying to pair your Charge 2? Could you please take a screenshot of it and post it here so I can take a look at it?

Also, I want to thank you for trying the steps suggested to pair your Charge 2, and even try to connect it with your computer.

I'll be looking forward to your response.

My Charge 2 suddenly stopped syncing and I couldn’t get it paired with Bluetooth. I reset the Fitbit by plugging in and holding button until logo appeared as you described.  Disconnected from charger, opened app and started syncing immediately. Once synced I found it in my discovered Bluetooth devices and was able to pair successfully. Thank you!
