Fitbit screen not coming on/vibrating nonstop/not syncing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I'm not sure what's going on but my Fitbit charge 4 screen will not come on. I've tried plugging it in and holding the power button for 8 seconds.  All it does is vibrate the whole time I hold it down. Occasionally I'll get a smiley face but that's it. I've tried syncing it on my phone but It will not sync no mater how many times I try. I've even reset my phone too. Last time it synced was today 11:56 am. I've had this fitbit for about a year now so I'm not sure what's the problem. Please help.

@DanielleD98 , Nice to see you around, Thank you for describing what you already tried.

Does the Charge 4 react when you tapp on it?

Are the green LEDs on?

Until then, I'll be expecting your reply

It does not react when I tap it. The green led lights were on earlier today but now they are not. It quit vibrating and will not react to any touch. When I plug it up I get a smiley face still but nothing else. It says the battery is at 68% so I'm not sure what's up. Even tried changing the clock face to see if it would activate the screen but it will not sync.

I have the same problem.  So frustrating.

I too have same problem.  I charged it, tried to reset it, but no joy.  It vibrates when touched at side, smiley face appears for a second, then blank

Same here! This afternoon it stopped working. I’ll hope it can be fixed, I’ve bought it about a year and a half ago.

Mine is doing the exact same thing...Smiley Face and then nothing,  I hold side button in and only vibrates, tried 2 different charges, nothing! Also, I tried to remove the band and it brok right off the fitbit!   1 year old!

I am having the same problem. It was working fine this morning and then this afternoon the screen wouldn't come on. At first It was still syncing and recording steps, heart rate, etc. (I checked on my app) but now nothing. When I try to reboot, it just vibrates. My Charge 4 is eight months old.

I'm in the same fight.  So strange.  I have an Apple watch but I think the FitBit is better for tracking. Now to decide if I want to spend the $ for another FitBit.

This was decided as a best answer? I’m new to this message board but I need an answer as to what to do to get my charge for to finally work!  All I get is a smiley face and then it vibrates when I hold in the side otherwise it’s black.

No idk why it selected that as an answer. Mine is still not working. Might just switch to Garmin cause I'm getting tired of all the problems with Fitbit.

If you look at the community forum there are a lot of us that our Charge 4s died the same exact way in June.  No solution.

Yes, it does seem strange that so many of us are having the same issue at relatively the same time. I'll make sure to contact support tomorrow.

Rather odd, I think.  We all need to contact customer support. Maybe they can figure out what is going on.

I did the online chat with customer support.  Magically my Charge 4 started working again.  I'm not sure I trust it, but we will see.  If I have the problem again I decide between using my daughter's Inspire or just sticking to my Apple watch.

I'm encouraging other FitBit users to call customer support, maybe there's a miracle for you, too. 🙂

Same just got done with tech support and I guess it’s trashed. It’s charging but no vibration, recording data, and when I attempt to change the display it shows the white line then goes blank…

So now I get 35% off the thing that’s enraging is this is exactly how my charge 2, charge 3, and now charge 4 has died. In probably 12 months and 1 day I’ll be ranting that my Charge 5 has met the same fate. It’s sad because I love the size and I have years of fitbit data but not sure I can do it again.

I did a live chat with a Fitbit rep. The rep asked me to try and change the clock face, but because the device wouldn't connect, I could not do this. She then emailed me a replacement request form. I could choose a free replacement of the same model or select a different model at 50% discount. I wanted to stick with the one I had. I suspect this failure of multiple devices on the same day is a one-time glitch. The whole process of requesting replacement only took a few minutes. My replacement is on its way. I asked the Rep if they had any insights into why so many Charge 4s crashed on the same day, and she said they couldn't "pinpoint" the specific issue but assured me they strive always to improve products.

Yup, mine has done pretty much the same thing.  Black screen, green light still working.  It still syncs to my phone but, really, I need to see my screen!  Tried resetting 4 times and it would work for a few minutes and then back to black.  At one point, it was vibrating constantly and the screen was glitching all over the place.  Contacted support and they told me to do all the things I already tried.  There was an update for fitbit, today, and it started working for several hours but now it's back to a black screen.  This fitbit is 3 months old (I got a replacement due to a broken clasp, under warranty in April) My warranty is up from my original and they tell me that all they can do is give me a 35% discount on the purchase of a new one.  I see a lot of other users are having the same problems as we are.  I hope that you have more success with yours than I have.  I will NEVER purchase another fitbit (this is my 4th) and will be leaving negative reviews wherever I can.
