Fitbit stopped during firmware update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My fitbit stopped during the firmware update last night, and now it will not complete the update or sync. I have done everything- restarted it, my phone, uninstalled the app- it's just stuck, and no longer functioning. Anyone else have this issue and you were able to fix it?  It just turned itself off, even though it had a full charge. I'm guessing it's just broken now.

Anyone else have this issue and you were able to fix it? I'm so disappointed. I was looking at upgrading to the blaze, but I'm afraid to now that this has happened- what if it has some sort of issue updating that causes this as well? 😞

Same problem at my end. I was quite happy with fitbit till it stated to updated the tracker. I made the mistake of doing so and ended up withe exactly the same problem. Incidentally my wife has the saem problem. If there are going t o be som many bugs and quality of customer service below standard i am not convinced of an upgrade or ever buying one again. None of the solutions i have read on teh community pages are helping either. Anyone has an answer please do post

Continue to try it...don't let your phone screen go to sleep during the
update...after several attempts it worked for me..

I have a fitbit charge hr and it froze up in the middle of the firmware update, every avenue has been tried multiple times, it still remains frozen, can't power off or reboot.  I was wanting to know if you got the information about returning yours?  Seems like it runs me in a circle when I try.  If you can help I would be most greatfull.  Thanks, Katarinaa52

I bought a new one. Email them and they will send you information to get a
new one, or you can call.

I called the customer support number on the website and they walked me
through fixing it. It took about 20 minutes on the phone with them, but it
is all fixed now. And there was no wait to speak to a customer service rep.

Good luck!

I think some fitbits were able to be fixed and others weren't. I think it
depended on where yours stopped in the cycle. Mine was unable to be fixed,
but some people got lucky!

I guess I got "lucky" since they will be replacing mine, only two months old. this will be costing fitbit corp if they are having to do large scale replacements. whoever approved that firmware update before it was unleashed on the world will probably be looking for a new job soon, if not out of work already

I returned mine to the retailer. They took care of it for me. Fitbit
offered, but it was after the fact.

i was able to get the firmware upgrade to complete my continuously retrying
the process. this included turning off my Bluetooth and restarting the fit
bit app. Then i would try the update over. i found that not letting the
phone time out(screen turn off, not switching to a different app) made it
finally work.
hope this helps you, but more importantly i hope Fit bit finds a real
solution to this issue going forward, this affected way to many people to
be overlooked.

I closed the Fitbit app, restarted the fit bit charge HR, turned Bluetooth off and back on my phone, turned the Fitbit app on, continued the update, and that worked 👍🏻
