Fitbit tracking elliptical exercise

My Fitbit 2 does not seem to track my exercise on an elliptical device (no moving arm bars).  Is this normal and is there a way to have it track this type of exercise?

If the auto recognize feature does not work because you are not moving your arms then you can manually start and stop the tracking of the elliptical.  The instructions for that can be found here:
