Food log

What has happened to the Food Log - had just gotten all set up and a great system for recording and now it has all changed and I am not finding it easy to use!  Can't immediately see all the items for a particular meal or how much of it was eaten.  With my set meals I could before just adjust quantities and ingredients easily - now it seems very complex. Grrrrhhhh! Is there any way I can get back to the old system?

That's why it's best to update the main thread with your comments. It would be too easy for comments made in duplicate threads to be missed by fitbit. There are currently 282 comments in that thread which is hard to ignore.

Keep an eye on the main thread for this change to the food log where fitbit are responding to the comments made:

I totally agree. This started for me yesterday. I can use the 'new system' but it takes twice as long, not least because I have to repeat, say, 'breakfast' for each and every item I consume.

(I have never seen any worthwhile response to any of my queries in the years I have been using this system and am only writing because I have time until I have finished my morning cup of coffee!. In other words I do not expect this problem to be solved.)

again. I am not happy at all

"It's...BACK!!!!"

They tried this new approach a while back and many people (including myself) HATED it!!  It was then pulled in response to the negative comments. But here it is again.  It may look "slick" graphically but is bloody hard to use and you don't have nearly the choices on the all-important food quantity as before.  Previously you could enters, serves, grams, oz, cups, ml, etc. and it would kick in fro your entry. Now it is limited and you have to pick from the list.  Things normally measured in tsp and tbsp....now require oz estimation. Who measure their jam in oz?  I used to be able to enter 1 medium apple, 1 large apple, etc...now they want that in a hard to guess format as well.

It would be nice if they offer the option of returning to the "classic view" as do many other websites.  If there is a way to get word to the mother house on this, I and many others  would appreciate it.

I TOTALLY agree with you, snowline1450, and have now even sent a message to Fitbit "Help" - not that I am expecting a response, but just hoping another push might have some impact. It must have been some long time ago they tried this before? I have been using this system for over3 years - it now takes twice as long to find my 'small' banana, ditto pear and in all cases have to enter 'Breakfast' since it will not follow on from the first item 'cup of coffee'! It is all wrong, wrong, wrong. AT LEAST, as you say, snowline1450, offer the original as an alternative..

Interestingly, I have filled out the Fitbit 'questionnaire' for the second time in this saga of the food log. More interestingly: as I put, somewhere, that I did NOT get the information I required, since there is no solution as yet, Fitbit will not accept my response!

Yes... Obviously this page was redesigned and that coincides with the future demise of Flash.  Designs can be changed and this one would do well to mirror the oen that worked.  Perhaps it wouldn't look as jazzy, but who cares!  My partner writes software from scratch and created code that would take hundreds of entries and associated information for equitation events and, from that, "magically" created a 100-page horse show program book in a matter of seconds...it CAN be done! 🙂

Teehee. It was the mention of the 'horse show' that really caught my eye. Your partner could have been a great help to me over 40 years ago: I wrote a programme, in DOS, to calculate the Tole payouts - at a real live race meeting! It worked, except once when there were 0 (zero) winners of the forecast.Fortunately, back-up was available in the shape of 3 'City finance gents' who always got the same answer but more quickly than my very old BBC computer with a casette for hard drive - I did not understand loops and was forced to enter the tickets in numerial order!
Please God we will get this fixed

Maybe you should give Fit Bit your number! 🙂  Actually I remember DOS (C:/dir) hehehe. Pre-Windows, Pre-Gates when data was on a 5" floppy and a 486 PC was 'state of the art'.

@cyclingcaz  @SunsetRunner  @snowline1450  A warm welcome to our Community! Thank you very much for your input regarding the Food logging page. As you can read in the main thread that @SteveH the team reverted to the previous page so they can work out any bugs and improve the page with the feedback received. Your time posting your thoughts is really appreciated.

Please, please, please do NOT change the food log again. The current version is more than adequate, is easy to use and does not confuse with all sorts of other rubbish. (The worst about your, now removed, 'new log' was the amount of time it took to enter everything - in addition it was nigh on impossible to find, edit and use previously logged 'personal' foods.)

I never use prepared foods but cook from scratch (and should add that many of the fitbit nutrition facts shown are very wrong in many cases). I have found some very useful apps which work out exactly the calories, etc., for each and every individual dish I cook which I faithfully copy the details to my fitbit food log.

I fear that if you do change this food log again, I shall stop using Fitbit.
