GPS tracking issues Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro

Hi,

I have recently given my old charge 2 to my girlfriend having just upgraded my own tracker. I had previously used the charge 2 for around 2 years with no issues and especially whilst racking runs with my charge 2 connected to my phone. This was a very useful feature especially when training for races with spilt times and pace etc.

My current phone is a Xiaomi Mi 8 which whilst not on the supported device list worked perfectly with my charge 2. My girlfriend who now uses the tracker also has a device (Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro) which is not found on the supported device list but is made by the same manufacturer as mine and is running the same android pie OS.

She has been having issues with tracking runs whilst her phone and charge 2 are connected. The tracker shows that it is connected to the phone throughout the duration of the run however the summary shows the incorrect distance, route and times. I can attach a recent example of this to the post if required.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we could overcome this issue as I don't want to have to venture out to a competitor tracker having used fitbits for quite some time now.

Cheers

Hi @Raburgess1 thanks for bringing this to my attention, it's a pleasure to assist you with your inquiry. Let me give you a warm welcome to our Community Forums too! My apologies for the delay in responding your post.

First, I'd like to appreciate all the details that were shared on your post, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for you and your girlfriend too. Let me share with you that your Charge 2 uses connected GPS, meaning that it will connect to your mobile device to track GPS data. That said, just as you mentioned in your post, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 PRO is not currently listed as a compatible device with our products and services, therefore, you may experience certain connection difficulties with it. I'm aware that some users are able to use non-compatible devices with our Fitbit products, however, we cannot ensure a proper function of all its features due to this compatibility concern, Fitbit app and Android updates. With that being said, even though your mobile device is not compatible, I recommend you to check all the information that's specified in our help article: Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

If by any chance you're still unable to use the GPS feature of your Fitbit with your mobile device, I suggest you to try with a compatible device instead to avoid this situation.

Keep me posted, I'll be here
