How Long is a Fitbit Charge 2 expected to last?

I contacted Fitbit about the fact that my Charge 2 does not hold a charge anymore. They said that my warranty has expired and that I would need to purchase a new Fitbit and they are giving me a 25% discount on one.

I did not expect that my tracker would simply stop working and that I would have to buy a new one. I did receive a replacement Fitbit within the warrantly period, but did not expect this. Basically, this would mean that I would have to buy a new Fitbit every 2 or 3 years. Is this everyone's expectation?

My regular watch does not expire, my computer keeps working, etc. why would I have to replace the Charge 2 every 3 years? This feels very manipulative on their part.

I fully agree with your views . My Fitbit charge3 also lasted just beyond warranty and the company does do anything when the product is out of warranty. My watch, computer, other gadgets go on and on ,but NOT FITBIT PRODUCTS. IT IS JUST LIKE CHILDREN'S TOYS ,USE THEM TILL WARRANTY AND THROW THEM . THEY HAVE ALSO OFFERED ME DISCOUNT BUT WHO WILL FITBIT PRODUCTS IF THE LAST FOR ONE YEAR OR SO.

@Punkin4 It's nice to have you on board!

Sorry to hear about your damaged Charge 2. Fitbit devices are designed to last but many factors will come into account that are different to many users that may affect your device. Still Support does follow the guidelines described in the warranty so if your device is outside the warranty period they won't be able to replace it. This is why they offer a discount to help customers in this situation. Still thank you for sharing your feedback.

Let me know how it goes.

The same thing has happened to mine.  I charge it and it says 100% charged, however the screen is just black and does nothing.  I am beyond frustrated!!!  Sorry to hear it's happening to so many others but also glad to know it's not just mine.  Mine just quit on me yesterday and I rely on it heavily for running mileage, calorie intake and much more!

my Fitbit charge 2 has just started haven the exact same problem. initially it wouldn't hold a charge, then the screen would go blank and now today having been on charge all night I have nothing at all!!!!!

so frustrating as its only 18 months old. as has been said a watch and a computer both work longer than that so why don't our Fitbits?

Thank you AlvaroFitbit for your response and for your input Dariegirl79 and perkypoo.

I want to correct my original statement. I had to replace my Fitbit within the warranty once and now 2 years later my replacement Fitbit no longer works precisely 2 years later, which essentially means that my Fitbit is only going to work for 2 year which is worse than what I stated in my original statement of 2 to 3 years.

If I find that this happens to me again, it will be clear that Fitbits do not last longer than 2 years which would be a very troublesome discovery. That would mean that I would have to spend close to $100 every 2 years outside of warranty. This is very upsetting to me.

I took good care of my Fitbit watch including wearing it under the cover of my clothing (sleeve) so that it would not hit anything.

I am very disappointed with the longevity of the Fitbit.

I have had similar experiences with my Fitbits.  One replaced under warranty and then buying a replacement outside of warranty with a discount from Fitbit on the newly purchased Charge 2.  The Charge 2 I am currently using I have had for 3 1/2 years.  Sounds like better longevity than yours, but I agree with your sentiments that a product should last significantly longer than that.

I've followed the suggestions in this forum of cleaning the contacts, etc.  It will charge to 100%, but within less than 12 hours, be completely dead.

Guess I'll contact Fitbit and see if they will provide me with a 25% discount on the purchase of a new one.

Similar problem here! Early this week the green led of my Charge 2 suddenly turned solid ON (first time ever during the 2,5 years since I bought it) and the pulsometer was frozen at 56ppm. Next day, led turned always OFF, pulsometer displaying "--" and battery draining in less than an hour from 100% capacity.

I had a Fitbit Flex in 2014 and it gave me problems too: one day it died and Fitbit sent me a replacement. And at least 3 other Flex's I gifted to my family ended the same: dead. I must say that I have an Aria 2 and works perfect... by now.

I like Fitbit (and thats the reason I purchased yesterday a Charge 4.... without any discount) but I think the hardware is not as good as it should

I've had my charge 2 since December of 2016 and it has worked WONDERS and up until 2 weeks ago the screen worked. Held a charge, the whole sitch. But now I'm thinking I'm in the same boat as you and I'm wondering if they did give you a discount and which one you upgraded to?

Hi,

It's been a while since then, but as I remember they gave me a new watch section without the wrist straps. I did however become disillusioned with my fitbit and have not been using it. So, they do replace if it within warranty. It sounds like you are likely out of your warranty period I do believe; however, they will likely give you a discount because they want to keep you as a customer and a discount will encourage you to purchase another fitbit and continue to be a customer.

If my Fitbit charge two does not take a charge today today is the day that it died. The strap connection point on my charge for broke when it was just over 18 months old and out of warranty. I am surprised that my charge to lasted as long as it did with its cracked screen And I am still able to use my charge for by placing it inside my sock so that I get my steps during the day. From everything I have heard it is possible to get a price better than what it fits 25% discount is at some retailers  and the discount is not available on items that are on sale. It appears all they are offering is their standard sale price and nothing more and probably less. Waiting to find out what is going on with Fitbit/Google and their upcoming changes before I make a decision as to whether we to replace my charge for tractor and with what product and or vendor.

As already posted in Fitbit community ,my Fitbit charge 3 ,I had 2 nos.
Fitbit charge 3. Both have stopped working just after warranty . Wrist
strap of my first charge 3 was broken in 3 months time. Fitbit replaced it
,but that broken down in 3 months and that process of regular breaking of
my wrist strap continued and I was disgusted with strap as well as charge
3. First charge 3 died about 8 months before second one stopped working. I
was highly disappointed having in my possession 4 broken straps and 2 nos.
charge 3 totally dead. I donot know what to do with them.
I have resigned to the fate that they were just toys and played with them
as a child and when they have stopped working and not giving me any service
, it is better to move ahead rather than breaking my head with Fitbit team
or company, as they are stubborn not to improve their quality of products.
Offering 35 % discount is just giving lolypop to customers .I donot
consider it wise decision to buy their products.

Recently, I was looking at the Google pixel website. I noted that they had a recycle program. I do not remember the details, but would suggest that you try going to the Google pixel store and finding the recycle/repurposed website notes and hopefully you will be able to dispose of dispose of them safely.

Hope you can understand the message. I have dictated it on my iPhone.
