When I click through the options on my watch the battery level doesn't show....is there another way to see the battery level so I can try your resolution?

@ErinHill Welcome to the Community Fitbit.
In order to see the battery level on your Fitbit Charge 2 screen please go to your online Dashboard > Settings > Devices > Menu Items and turn the option on:
After making any change to your account please make sure you sync your Fitbit tracker.

I don't have settings as you described under dashboard ...Dashboard > Settings > Devices >

The instructions mentioned above are exclusive for the online Dashboard. You can enable the battery level from the Fitbit app by tapping the Charge 2 icon and selecting Menu items as shown in the screen shot below:
