How do I delete old notifications?

Everyday I get notifications telling me that either I need a certain amount of steps to reach my goal, or that I'm an over achiever with so many steps above my daily goal.  That's great, however I now have 198 notifications showing.  How can I delete all these older ones?  Thanks!

Hey there @TommyRosati, it's nice to see you here! Just to clarify something, Charge 2 doesn't save notifications so check your phone to see those you miss.

On the other hand, when it comes to the notifications on the app, the notifications will automatically deleted after 30 days. Before that period of time, there's no way to manually delete those notifications. However, if your app is showing notifications for more than the last 30 days, I'd recommend the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit app is up-to-date
  • Log out of your Fitbit app
  • Force quit the app
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response.  My Fitbit Charge 2 is up to date.  Am I correct that I need to get out of Fitbit on my laptop and phone, then turn off my blue tooth and shut off my Iphone and laptop for 1-2 minutes and then turn everything back on?  Forgive my ignorance on this as I'm an "old timer" (69 years).  Again thanks!

@MarreFitbit  I use the iOS app.  These notifications from the app DO NOT drop off after 30 days and the method you describe DOES NOT make them go away.

I started a Feature Suggestion in April asking for a way to remove these notifications  Let us delete in-app notifications  As of today it has 60 votes and 77 comments.  These notifications are viewed as everything from annoying to obscene.  There is at least one other thread asking to just make them go away.  Just how many votes does a thread need before it is reviewed by a moderator?

Some users want to give up on Fitbit because they find them so annoying.  We not only need a way to delete them, but a way to opt out of them completely.  I can turn off chatter from the device.  I really want to opt out of these notifications.

No worries @TommyRosatiWoman Very Happy Yep, you're right. This method has worked some friends of mine.

I agree with you @LZeeW about implementing a way to manually delete old notifications. Thanks for sharing the link to your suggestion. I'll make sure to pass this to our team in order for it to be reviewed.

Keep in mind that you can choose to receive certain Fitbit notifications directly on your phone or by email. Notifications include low battery warnings, step goal milestones, new badges, friend requests, messages from friends, challenge invitations, and more—including a weekly summary of your Fitbit stats and periodic updates about Fitbit products.

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard and click the gear icon.
  2. Choose Settings > Notifications and select Mobile or Email for each type of notification.
  3. Click Save.

Have a great day you two!

No

I have them since February!

I have notifications going back to March 13.  I would also like them to be deleted after at least 10 days. They are taking up space in my phone that I need for other things.

Same here ...my notifications go back to March 8th ...so almost 5 months  now ...

Same here, I have notifications back to Feb 2017.  Shorter retention of 10 days is more than needed!

I have notifications that are several months old. They don't seem to be dropping off. I could use help with the question as well.

I don't know the answer.  Come on Fitbit.  Fix it.

Many Fitbit users have complained about the stacked up notifications on our phones for months now. Apparently the company does not care.  I don't want these idiotic notifications at all, much less saved ones from months and months ago. Fitbit refuses to address the problem. Very disappointed. I will leave Fitbit when my old Flex dies.

You appear to be correct. As there have been so many of us writing within the Fitbit community regarding the need for a means of deleting past messages and FitBit offers no solution, they must not see it as effecting sales and thus not an issue worth dealing with. Annoying. I believe, in the long run, when another product comes along where message deletion is an easy option, I will definitely switch to that new brand. Maybe when the bottom line is finally effected, FitBit will see fit to work on this aspect of their software.

I still have notifications from March as I did the last time I posted.  They don't just automatically delete as I was told.  I really like my Fitbit but I am tired of this and no help in sight.

I wish I could help.  I have the same problem, mine go back to March. Fitbit has to be aware of this as there are a number of complaints. <Maybe when all these people leave Fitbit and go somewhere else they'll sit up and take notice.

The notifications I'm referring to are the ones you get when you are close to your step goal. It will tell you how many steps you need to reach your goal.
