How do I delete old notifications?

Everyday I get notifications telling me that either I need a certain amount of steps to reach my goal, or that I'm an over achiever with so many steps above my daily goal.  That's great, however I now have 198 notifications showing.  How can I delete all these older ones?  Thanks!

They don’t drop off. I have notifications going back to October 2017

I want 6 mths worth of "almost there" and "nailed it" notifications gone. Your development team better get on it and figure out how to erase them.

So for those who are looking to FitBit to fix this problem, I have been told by support that it has been "fixed".  The problem is, the "fix" is worse than the original broken feature.

Problem:  FitBit app on all platforms deletes old notifications after 30 days, except that it doesn't work on the iOS version of the app.

FitBit solution;  Keep "only" the first 100 notifications.  Delete all older ones, but don't announce the new feature, and don't include info about it in the release notes.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't yet have 100 notifications, and I'm already frustrated that the list isn't being cleared.  (More so, I'm frustrated with how poorly FitBit is responding to the problem.)  I certainly don't want to wait until I have 100 to see them just start to disappear.  I would really like to be able to see that this feature actually exists.   As it stands now, I have no idea if this new "feature" is for real or just a phantom whipped up quickly by the support folks on FitBit's Twitter page.

Bottom line: This "feature" does nothing but further annoy and insult users.

For those not interested in the whole thread, let me quote the last two bits of the conversation:

Me:  So let me see if I follow this correctly - you had a 30-day delete feature in all platforms, but it didn’t work on iOS, so you replaced with a watered-down feature which deletes any message beyond 100, which is of little-to-no use to anybody. Since many users don’t have over 100 messages, they may never know whether the feature is working. Between that and the fact that your release notes do not introduce this new feature, there’s no proof that it actually exists or works. So how is this good for your customers?

FitBit Support:  We appreciate your feedback but this is how the notifications work now. You can let our developers hear you by voting and commenting to the feature suggestion that we previously provided. Thanks for your understanding.

"...this is how notifications work now".  Wow.  What an incredibly sorry excuse for customer service.  I don't mind bluntly being told the truth, but FitBit seems to be going out of their way to avoid talking about this issue.  Both the "fix" and the response are terrible.  (For that matter, since the "fix" is no better than the problem, and is almost indiscernible from from current behavior, I really do doubt that it exists.)

So if this bothers anybody else as much as it does me, go pound FitbitSupport on Twitter with tweets telling them how you feel.  Don't use the link on their support web page, it will generate a Direct Messages, which is private.  Tweet them publicly so that your voice can be heard.

If this is representative of the level of support that FitBit offers, (evasion & deception with a saccharin-sweet smile) I may have to start looking at competing products.

I have 5 months of notifications so they do not delete after 30 days. Any suggestions?

The official company line seems to be "go to https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Let-us-delete-in-app-notifications-Messages/idi-... " and vote for the new feature.

FitBit has expressed no interest in actually fixing the problem causing this, so the iOS version of the FitBit app will never delete notifications older than 30 days like it's supposed to.  They will only add the new feature to allow users to delete old notifications if it gets enough votes and is something they are interested in doing.  (Since this is the solution they are kind of pushing, I presume there is some interest in doing it.)

It's not just iOS and iPhones.

I have 120 notifications dating back 199 days, which are stuck in the Windows app (on Windows 10 PC) as well as the iOS app (iPad 2). I'm wearing a Charge HR 2.

I stumbled on this thread when I searched for a way of deleting these useless old notifications. Rather surprised and shocked to see how long this issue has gone unresolved. How hard can it be for Fitbit to implement a simple 'delete' button in the apps?

I just found this thread. Iquit paging back through my messages when they hit January, this is July.

I logged out of the Fitbit app, closed all apps, powered off my phone, powered the phone back on, and logged into the Fitbit app again. No change.

There must be a storage limit because my messages quit at mid June 2018. They could go all the way back to July 2016 when I got the Fitbit Blaze.

My IOS version is the most current on a newer iPhone.

Long way to say I haven’t found a way to delete the messages.

I have a little red dot on my notifications icon on the bottom right corner of the app, but when I open it the last notification is about 3 weeks ago. I don’t even see any current notifications.

Are you sure this is true, because the most recent notificaiton I can see is 55 days old. I have hundreds of notifications going all the way back to the first day I activated my fitbit. I think my notifications are maxed out because I am not able to see anything recent.

My last notification is dated June 17th, prior to that they went back all the way to October.

From what I understand, there is no way to delete old notifications. My last notification was June 16th and my first one was last September, so basically this is a useless feature now.

I have a year’s worth of notifications —going back to September 2017 (and we are at the end of September 2018 as I type). I’ve tried dozens of things recommended on numerous forums, all to no avail. And the red notifications alert indicator will not go away. It is very annoying.
