I cannot figure out how to change the Do Not Disturb setting.
Tapping the Do Not Disturb text toggles it on (nothing shown) and off
If I press the button I get the DND text. Tapping this seems to toggle it on and off. If I press the button, I get back to the Do Not Disturb text.
How do I get back to the clock screen?

I updated the firmware on the Charge 4 to 48.20001.100.76 on Jan 1st.
My phone runs Android 11.

Well all I do is press the side button, that is how I get out of anything.

I agree that is the way things should work.
I have got into a bigger hole now. I tried the Exercise app this morning and I cannot get out of it 7 hours later, The side button takes me to the DND, Sleep and Screen Wake settings. When I press the side button on these settings I get back to my Exercise session which is still going strong.
So I am in a hole and cannot figure the way out.

Have you tried the chat here in the forums, they have always helped me. Or call them they have always been helpful. Hope you figure this out. My charge 4 is only syncing once a day where it used to sync all day, guess they took that option away! There used to be a button that you could turn on or off about all day syncing, it seems after Google bought Fitbit there has been nothing but problems for all the fitbits, hoping they get their act together!

I have found out that the way to do a restart is to put the Charge 4 in the charger and then press the button for 10 seconds.
This has worked reliably so far and the Charge 4 is just about useable, but it does not answer the question as to why have I got into 'dead ends' in the first place. I am still working on this.

Well doing a restar or a reboot does not help my syncing problem, hope you have found a solution

Luckily for me syncing is not a problem. I am sure you have made sure that the firmware of the Charge 4 and the version of the Fitbit app is up to date.
I did find a reasonably useful helpline but I am prevented from putting it in thus message.
