How to switch between Fitbits?

I picked up a used Flex a couple months ago, liked it, and bought a Charge 2 which just arrived. I read somewhere that you could have more than one Fitbit linked in the app and it would automatically detect which one was in use but mine isn't, it stays connected to the newer one even though I'm using the old one while the new one charges. I finally forced it to believe the Flex by going in through the Settings menu but do I really have to go through that every time I switch between them? Or is there a way it really can detect which one is in use?

Hey @StarshineString, welcome aboard! That is correct my friend, you can have more than 2 or more devices on the same Fitbit account, however, is not recommendable, in your case, to use and sync both at the same time, 'cause the Fitbit account can't detect which one is being used.

If you have more than one device paired to the same account and you forget to take one off before putting on another, we’ll reconcile the overlapping data to present the most accurate information possible on your dashboard. For example, if one of your trackers is using GPS and another is not, your dashboard chooses the GPS data when calculating total distance since GPS provides a more accurate distance measurement than step counting alone. However, the more overlapping data that exists on your account, the more likely it is that your dashboard's accuracy will suffer. For best results, don't wear more than one device at a time and sync each device before taking it off and putting on another.

If you have more than one Fitbit device, you see live data for the device that is closest to your phone. Keep the device you’re not using at least 10 feet away from your phone to avoid frequent “switching” of the live data.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions!

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear. I only wear one device at a time, but the one
I'm not wearing is still less than 10 feet from the phone. I'll try to keep
it further away than the one I'm using, though, knowing that helps.

Thanks for your reply @StarshineString! I appreciate the clarification. The best way to make them sync without inconveniences, is to put them away one from the other one. Otherwise the data might mess up.

Let me know how it goes!
