So I just ran 2 miles on the treadmill and my Fitbit said I ran .43 miles wow good to know I spent $150 on an item that was this off. Would not recommend this to a friend.

On a treadmill your fitbit doesn't measure miles, it needs to calculate them.. It does a taking your step count and multiplying it by your stride.
The problem with the stride is that it is at the speed your running at, which most likely is not your natural stride which is what Fitbit will asume. I'm surprised there was no mention of step count.
Ok, when it comes to the treadmill., holding on to the arms may cause miss steps along with less calories burnt and possibly more body injury than good.

I don't follow your logic. I didn't once grab the railings, and if the
fitbit is calculating my heart rate and steps taken then why is the
distance off? I question whether or not the steps are even accurate. And my
initial post was actually incorrect I ran 2 miles on the treadmill and my
fitbit recorded .14 miles....drastically off. I am moving at a much faster
pace with much larger strides and taking more strides a second than i would
if i was walking...

If your taking larger steps then what Fitbit thinks your taking, then fitbit will report a low distance.

Say fitbit thinks your stride is 3 feet and your really doing 3.5 feet. So in 100 step you will have gone 450 feet, but Fitbit will calculate it as 300 - Steps times stride = distance.

As for step count accuracy simply start up the tracking mode and start walking while counting every left or right step. Count off 250 steps and the Charge2 should report about 500 steps.

Now if the Gps is still enabled, I don't know what tracking mode was used, but since your standing still this could affect the reported distance.

I just walked 6 miles on the treadmill and my Fitbit shows 4 miles.  Happens every time, every day.  I have measured my stride length and adjusted it on Fitbit with no change.  I don't hold on to the bars and make sure my movement is the same as off the treadmill.  Still haven't figured out the problem.  Frustrated!
