Incorrect Fitbit Weather Location

I have a Charge 3 and until this morning, the weather location always displayed correctly.  I have changed nothing on the App and all of a sudden, it is displaying the weather for Randlett, UT. instead of Surprise, AZ. where I live.  I have never even heard of Randlett let alone been there.  I have an Android phone, Android version 5.1.  Any help is appreciated!

@jmahoney, actually, you can! There's a wireless reboot option. On your tracker, swipe 3 times to the left, tap on Settings, swipe up till you get to About - tap on it, swipe up till you get to Reboot Device.

@jmahoney, welcome to the forum! May I ask you to check your account settings in Fitbit app? Go to the rectangular icon in the top right corner (account settings) and tap on it. Then scroll down to Settings section - find Advanced Settings and tap on it. Do you have Automatic time zone and location enabled there?

Now, in Fitbit app tap on Charge 3 icon, tap on Apps tile, tap on Weather -> Settings. You can see an option to edit list of cities. Current  Location option will read location from your phone. If needed, you can manually add other locations.

Sync with your tracker and check whether the issue is solved.

If it's all set correctly and your phone location is turned on and is working properly, but you still see incorrect location in weather app, you may need to clear your Fitbit app cache (your data will NOT be impacted). Close Fitbit app then go to your phone settings, find apps -> Fitbit -> Storage -> Clear Cache. Open Fitbit app and sync it with your tracker. Check the weather app location

Did everything you just suggested and still says Randlett.  Only thing I can think of left to do is reset the Fitbit itself, but can't do that until I'm home this evening.

Still no success.  I have done everything I can think of and everything you have suggested, including uninstalling and reinstalling the App.  It still tells me the weather in Randlett.

@jmahoney, this is just odd.... and your tracker is syncing successfully with the phone, right? Location on the phone is also correct? If this is the case, then something might be 'stuck' on a tracker...

Lets try couple other options... Can you, please, change clock face on your tracker to any other one (then you can revert it back to your preferred option)? It forces reboot and sync... I wonder if it would help to refresh weather location... You may also attempt several restarts (with or without cable) and try a long restart.

Long restart:

  1. Connect the device to the charging cable.
  2. While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  3. The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
  4. The device turns off.
  5. The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  6. Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  7. Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Please, let us know how it goes!

Hi Rise and Shine,

I followed the steps that you suggested and still no luck. I am in California.  I was in Hilo 5 days ago and it is still showing Hilo as my location.

Any other ideas on how to fix it?

Thank you

@ShannaS, I don't think I know any other 'tricks' - everything is outlined above. For a successful location identification you just need the following:

1. Ensure Location is set to automatic in Fitbit app

2. Charge 3 is syncing successfully with your phone.

If your phone is showing correct location, but Fitbit does not - there could be some syncing issues.

Actually, one 'trick' you may want to try.... if you use Android phone, you can clear Fitbit app cache to eliminate the possibility that old location is 'stuck' in app cache (you can do it through phone settings=> apps => Fitbit app=> Storage=> Clear cache).

Best of luck!

I have tried everything to make it show my current location but it still says in I’m Sweden, which I haven’t been in 5 months. This reset thing doesn’t work.
