Hi there,
I got a Charge 4 yesterday as a replacement for a Charge 2. I went for my first run today and as it was quite sunny I accidentally double pressed the side button to check stats half way through the run.
As I couldn't really see the screen in the sun I continued the run and realized about 1km later that the run was paused. I think pausing a run should require an deliberate choice as it does to end a run and the current behavior seems way to easy to accidentally trigger. I've not find a way to change this behavior so wanted to check with people here.
Note - I don't believe this is the tracking stopping of its own accord issue.
Thanks,
ipslim

Welcome to the Community, @ipslim.
Regarding your inquiry, no, there isn't an option to lock the tracker's button or display at the moment of exercising.
And unfortunately, we do not currently have plans to release this feature. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs. For now, we will leave this suggestion open for votes (and closed to comments) so that we can continue to track community demand over time.
Let me know if you need anything else. 🙂

That's ridiculous, it should be a basic feature.
How difficult can this be?
Such a shame Fitbit used to make really good bands and now it's always "almost there", always something basic missing.

I am having the same issue. As it is colder I am walking in a coat and the sleeve of my coat keeps catching on the button and pausing tracking my walk. It is so annoying. Never happened with any of my previous versions.

Fitbit needs to support lockscreen. I too am having this problem with exercise recording inadvertently pausing while active due to screen being activated unintentionally during that exercise. It is 2020. This should be a standard feature. All other touchscreen devices have this capability. C'mon Man!

I have asked for this feature before too. I play ice hockey and it's a crapshoot as to whether it'll still be keeping track after any given game. I'd say it pauses early 40% of the time. My band just broke and I'm searching for alternatives to fitbit as they didn't bother to add this feature to the charge 4.

This is really ridiculous. As a company that produces fitness trackers you should want to make them better suited for your customers. While this feature will probably never get implemented due to not having the universal backing as others. It is still a very user friendly feature that would help your customer base. Going from a Flex 2 to a charge 4, I never had this problem until now and let me tell you it is a big problem. Half of the time that I perform heavy lifts it stops tracking my exercise. You may not think so but this will cost you several customers in the long run. Especially in the lifting and sports community that will look for a product that better meets there needs. To bad all of this will go on deaf ears.

I 100% agree. I Kickbox, and in a 60 minute intense workout, when I stop I look at my Fitbit and it had stopped itself, and I got a whole 11 minutes.
Ridiculous!
