Hello all I just started using my fitbit Charge 2 today after it collected dust for 2 years or so.  I don't know much about it as I am not tech savy.  I have some questions and sure I will have more:

1) How do I log exercises?  Won't the fit bit log them for me?

2) For the 10,000 step goal what does that accomplish?  Can I set the goal for more?

3) When I need to recharge battery does that mess up my stats for the day?

Thanks for the help!

Easiest first:

3) Charging does not affect stats except that obviously you will not be getting steps when it is on the charger.

2)  10,000 is just a number.  You could google it and find story about how someone, I think in Japan many years ago, came up with that number.  You can change the goal.

See How do I set or change my Fitbit goals?

1. The Charge 2 has SmartTrack which is supposed to auto-recognize several exercises and automatically log them.  But sometimes it misses part of the time or categorizes it incorrectly.  If you are more concerned with getting workout logged accurately, it is better to use the Exercise App where you can tell the tracker when you start and stop and what it is you are doing.

This help section tells more about that:

How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

But also note, even when workout does not get logged exactly right, daily steps and calories will still be good.

You can also manually log a workout but that is meant only for times when you were not wearing the tracker.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
