Make sure you have not accidentally set it to "do not disturb" mode by holding in the side button too long.  Holding in the button toggles notifications off and on.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thank you!  I just came here with the same problem and I'd run out of other things to try.  It worked!  Must have gotten caught on a tight sleeve cuff.
