Hi everyone,
The firmware update itself went fine yesterday - Sunday - afternoon. Got the usual update bar and confirmation after completion. However, afterwards a number of problems arose:
- Using the button to cycle through the menu now makes my Charge 2 "crash" often but not all the time: I can usually use the button to cycle through the first 3-5 items, after which it gets stuck on one item which it keeps showing for minutes on end. Only resetting can cure this. Although at this very moment, absolutely nothing does... (it's been stuck on "Bike" for about 10 minutes, plugging in the charging cable doesn't even register).
- The watch has switched to random times twice since last night, or it has gotten stuck. Only re-synching cures this. Consequently, my stats since yesterday are completely messed up (2 hours of sleep, my heart rate at 3 am at 75 instead of 55, etc). I have to add that my Fitbit also showed this behaviour last Friday (switched back 15 minutes on its own), when it also completely stopped recording steps. As I didn't have my cable with me, I could only reset 12 hours later, on Saturday.
- Late last night, even resetting didn't work: the phone got stuck on the "recharging battery" icon for about 20 minutes, without me being able to reset (no reaction, multiple tries) and without the screen switching off. Needless to say that this wasn't ideal just before going to bed. After reconnecting it to the cable a number of times, the screen eventually moved, and the Fitbit reacted to me holding the button to reset.
EDIT:
- It appears the charging cycle is also acting strangely. When not on the charging cord, I got 75% as a reading. Less than 2 minutes after plugging it in to charge, it showed a full battery icon, and 100% when disconnected. Note that I have reset my Charge 2 less than half an hour ago.
Troubleshooting done so far:
- Reset multiple times. The first time was about 20 minutes after the update, after I tried to cycle through all the menu items and the watch got stuck. It worked then. The fourth time was this morning, just before re-synching to get the watch back to where it should be.
And that's about it, really, as there is very little one can do to remedy software issues with any Fitbit product... I've only had mine for about 3 months, and all I can say is that it has gotten less reliable over time, since all the firmware updates. I haven't had any "physical accidents" with it so far, apart from sweating hard when climbing Tour de France "cols" and the occasional few drops of water. The screen is in mint condition, so is the rest.
I am very curious to hear what could cause and solve the problems I'm having. Because right now I'm stuck with a not-so-reliable electronic watch with totally unreliable stats 😞
Thanks in advance,
J
PS, after a good 15 minutes, pressing the button (not resetting) finally worked and immediately made the main watch screen reappear (odd, because the next menu item would be "Stopwatch"). Heck, I'll just do another reset to be sure 😉

EDIT: a few minutes ago, it just stopped working. Blank screen. Not responsive when using the button or the charging cable. Just now, pressing the button only shows a "battery" icon, showing a 90% charged battery. And that won't disappear. Weird stuff.

And it works again. Although when the screen started working again, the time was an hour and a half off... So I had to sync again... It seems as if my Fitbit is in its own Twilight Zone 😉

And yet another hard reset after the screen went blank again. Battery now at 70%, it was at 100% at noon. This is getting very annoying.

I, too, am having the same issues. Please update the thread if you solve the problem(s).

Similar issues here. I looked at it this morning and it appeared totally dead. Odd because I never got a low battery warning. I plugged it in and charged it. I put it on and it seemed normal, and then it was totally dead within minutes. No response from anything. Hooked up again to the charging cable with my MacBook Pro. This time after connecting it, I held the restart button on the device. It restarted.
I am getting a number code when I restart it: "22.55.02"
And then it goes dead. Multiple cycles of this. Thoughts?

I'm dealing with similar issues. Phone doesn't recognize device at all for the past few days since updating to 22.55.2 even after repeated resets. Frustrating since I've only had the device since August and have done no damage to it.

I was gifted a Fitbit Charge HR 2 for my birthday on Wednesday. I am guessing that the firmware update has something to do with the issues I am having as well. Some issues I am noticing are as follows:
That's all for now.

I am currently experiencing the same issue; did you find a solution or workaround?

I'm afraid my workaround was: getting a new Charge 2, albeit under warranty...

Also ended up getting a new Charge 2 mailed to me after working with someone on the live chat.

So mine failed to keep a battery charge in October. I posted questions on the forum and tried the reset and nothing worked. I stopped wearing it in October. I got a new one from my wife for Christmas, but after checking with a relative, he suggested following up on the original issue. I checked with the live chat people and they will send me a new one.
I'm still curious about my other issue, which is a redness and irritability on my left wrist. I have a square-shaped scar under the fit bit. I mentioned this too on the live chat and they then suggested sending me a full refund and have cancelled the new Fit Bit. I'm confused now.

I’ve only noticed that the stats are all off, especially sleep stats. I didn’t realize it might be the update that caused the issue. I thought maybe the band replacement was to blame (maybe the watch was no longer sitting the right way or something)..
so after multiple resets mine is still giving me stats that don’t make any sense ☹️ Let me know what you end up doing with yours. This IS getting annoying
