My charge 3 is not recognizing automatically the exercise I'm doing. Me and my husband have the same fitbit, the only difference is that he has an iPhone and I have a Samsung... doing the same exercises, he has a report on the exercise tab showing the type of workout (aerobic, sport), time, average heart rate, calories burned and exercise zone... not happening with me... any idea why is that difference?

I just got my Charge 3 a few weeks ago. It is very random as to automatically recognizing my walks and treadmill as excercise. Please help!
I got my Fitbit charge 3 on. black friday... issues with synching, had to get a replacement less than a month in. now I'm having constant issues with the new one. so sick of rebooting, synching blah blah blah. I have a galaxy s8, had no issues quite like this with previous fitbits. current issue is heartrate (pulse) and exercise isnt synching

Is your Charge 3 still tracking for you? Mine stopped, days ago, and nothing is fixing it. Very annoying.
I somewhat agree. While there are some cool features, my Charge 3 never syncs itself (never has, nor did my prior generation Fitbit) and it just out-of-the-Blue stopped tracking my exercise, last Friday (March 29, 2019). NONE of the “help” suggestions corrects it.
I did a major workout yesterday, and well as other activities and walking, and it recorded no one moment of it.
Maybe it is time for a Garmin for me.

I have tried everything I have read here and I still can’t get it to sync with my exercise. It happens once every week. One of the days it won’t sync but everything else sync, it is so annoying. Can’t they fix this issue.
The automatic tracking did work fine for two months but it is not working for more than a week now. As is the updating of the graph for the rest heart rate. Can this be fixed? It is annoying.
My fitbit 3 just randomly stops tracking whenever. This is my 3rd fitbit in a year, they cannot seem to solve their issues. Rather than sending a mindless auto-repy with a bunch of links, maybe they should just recognize their exercise tracking is garbage and fix it? Because this is ridiculous. I'm sick of Fitbit, they need to be better considering the cost. I'm also sick of trying various combinations of stopping, starting, forcing quits, turning bluetooth on and off and tapping gears. Just fix it, ok? Jesus, get it together fitbit, you suck and are not worth the money.

totally! I'm constantly resetting mine. hoping that it will help. and if
one of the devices can't properly track exercise (talking to you fitbit
charge 3) then for FS, don't say that it can!!

Best AnswerYeah I think I need to switch to apple watch. I've had my Versa for 5 months and have had many issues. It now won't autorecognize my walking. I've reset the watch, reset my app, and turned off and on the autorecognizing as well. Anyone else have other suggestions?!?! This is the whole reason I bought this watch.
A 2018 post worked perfect with the New Charge 3 I just received for Christmas. First couple of days with it have been a disappointment, but everything is starting to come together now.
My thanks to the community for this post and many more.
My issue was solved with the following:
Short Version:
1.) Go into Fitbit App > Exercise
2.) Settings (gear icon)
3.) Auto Recognized Exercises > (change the time to anything other than what it currently is. I changed all to 14 minutes..) SAVE.
4.) Go back to dashboard (pull down to sync... May take a few attempts to sync. Previous data will sync (exercises and active minutes.)
5.) You should be able to restore the time setting for auto detected exercise back to 15 minutes or something else.
My Charge 3 has worked extremely well up until today. I have completed three walkinh sessions totalling over an hour. Yesterday three similar sessions were recorded perfectly. Today, ZERO minutes but steps and stairs seem to be OK.
I have changed the exercise thresholds and synched many times. Also rebooted the Fitbit and my cell phone several times. No effect.
AND now all three have shown up, an hour after I had given up.
Does the Fitbit website occasionally have issues that might explain what happened?
my charge 3 stopped recognizing my walks today after 9 months of working fine. worked fine yesterday. today-nada.
i’ve tried all the suggestions, re-boot, long re-boot, change time on auto recognize. nothing has worked so far. over 6 hours from my 1st walk today and still nothing.
step count is working, active minutes are registering, but no exercise.
