My Fitbit is losing time

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had my Fitbit since xmas and in the last 2 days I have noticed that it is losing time - it corrects itself as soon as I sync with my IPhone however I have done this twice already today and it is 3 mins slow again.

I have checked the settings and they are set to auto select the time zone  - what else can I do apart from return it for a refund?

Hey hey hey @FLilley, let me give you a warm welcome to the Forums! Woman Very Happy So in other words, only after you sync your tracker, the times corrects itself, right? I think that this is more related to a syncing issue. So let me suggest you the following:

- Turn off the Bluetooth on your phone

- Reboot your phone

- Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone

- Restart your Charge 2

- Disable the "auto select timezone" option on your Fitbit account

- Sync your Charge 2

Give it a try to those steps and let me know how it goes!

That is a recurrent problem for me too. It happened on my previous Charge HR and does on my Charge 2 also. I am surprised we don't see a lot more complaints about it here. I have tried everything and have given up hope of fixing it myself, unless Fitbit comes up with a fix. I think that causes my problems with the 250+ steps per hour not getting credited too when I get the steps near the end of an hour according to my C2, but the time is really in the next hour. I got very frustrated with this problem but eventually decided I get enough motivation to exercise from it to still make it worthwhile. I just don't rely exclusively on it for precise time, and don't rely on the silent alarm for anything critical.

My Fitbit is still losing time and this evening it went dead, it was fully charged last night so the battery hadn't died however I put it back on charge just in case and even once plugged in it still did nothing. I left it for a while and when I went back to it it was back on.

Hello guys, I hope you are doin' fine!

@JohnnyRow, most of the times, these inconveniences are related to syncing issues. So I would like you to take a look at the instructions for Android devices in this post to resolve them.

@FLilley, let me ask you something, after your Charge 2 went back to life, was the timezone corrected on the tracker? If not, first of all, make sure that you have the correct timezone on your Fitbit account, and then perform a restart.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi there,

I am also loosing time on My Charge 2. Around 1 minute every 15 minutes. Overnight i get around 1 hour delay.

I have now tried the steps recommended above above (BT off -> phone restart -> BT On -> Tracker restart) and i wait to see if it works.

Also I got the problem with the tracker being off although I had almost full battery (last charged on Sunday - then last evening it was completely off).

And as I am typing i can see i already have 1 minute delay. So all those steps do not work.

Any other recommendation?

Hi there @HeydyF,

I really start to think there is a Hardware problem with my tracker, since yesterday at 10am i charged it and last evening at 21:00 it was completely off. And I just had a normal day at the office. No extreme sports or activity to track.

And i charged it again, synced it this morning at 8:00 am, and now it shows me 9:10 instead of 9:15.

I suppose I will use my warranty and take it to the shop...

I'm having the same problem. I've gone through the steps listed. I actually just completed them, and with the app open on my phone, the watch is already 1 minute behind. Should I call and complain?

So far, Fitbit has been a fairly large waste of money.

None of the suggestions worked on mine, the losing time gradually got worse then it stopped charging properly, the lights in the back stayed on permanently until eventually it died completely, needless to say I got a refund

Looks like I'll be doing the same. Any suggestions on another fitness tracker?

my fitbit charge 2 has incorrect time.  I have tried turning off and turning on Blue tooth.  Any suggestions as to resetting time?  thank you.

@BooBecky  Time should get reset from your phone, or other syncing device, when you sync.

My charge HR lost 35 minutes overnight and the battery still has 50% charge, the time corrected when I synched with my iPhone.  If this was the 1970s, I would understand the challenge to keep precise time, but in 2018 there is no excuse for an electronic device to lose time!  I also have a Blaze which I will now also check...if I see the same issues I will finally invest in an Apple watch...

@Carlrunning   I recently discovered that turning off 'All-Day Sync' fixes my problem with trackers losing time, though I don't understand why or how.  But I think it's worth a try.  If you do try it, please post if it helps or not.

Hi, I’m having the same issue the same issue with my Versa - as I sit here, it’s 1hr 52m slow. To blame sync and suggest it’ll correct itself when re-synced is crazy. I’m beginning to think Fitbit devices are trackers that sometimes tell the time, but not a watch that has tracking capabilities.

Plus, if it’s a sync issue, fix it. This forum seems to think too often that a recovery procedure is a fix for a problem: it’s not, fixing the problem is.

My Fitbit keeps losing time every morning, it started out 1 min off and catches up by mid day, but now it's increases to losing 40 min and it messes with my wake up alarm. What can I do to correct this? I've only had since Christmas
